I took myself out for some more shopping. The nurses are going to think I am moving in permanently. I was buying jammies and I found this really cute 2 piece set. Then I wondered how that would work with a vertical incision....Should I just stick to night gowns?

Hi
I was told not to bring any night wear with me as they provided the night gowns. I had my lavh back in Feb.
I really didn't need to bring a lot. Just night robe, slippers, clothes to go home in, and toiletries of which they had also supplied!
I wouldn't recommend P.J's though, it could prove difficult when changing pads or going to the bathroom etc, a gown is easier to lift up!! Also you don't really want anything rubbing around your waist and incision!
Hope all goes well and look forward to hearing from you on the post op side

I had a vertical incision and brought my own undies (old lady cotton that came to belly button) a size larger than I normally wear and a two piece nightie. I put my own undies on the first time I was able to go to the bathroom, which was the next day. Oh nightie was one size bigger as well, but could not put it on till they took out the I.V. I did still have some drainage but asked the nurses if I could put extra gauze on the incision site so I did not ruin my new outfit. Also, I did not have any vaginal drainage, that might be an issue too.
's and good luck to you.

I am just starting to purchase stuff to make my life simplier when I have surgery. I did go get a plastic bed table from Kmart to put laptop on so it wouldnt have to rest in my lap... and am going soon to get some night gowns. My surgery isnt until August 5th so I have time. Is there any other little things that anyone can think of for home to make it easier? I would like to get everything i need set up before I go so I dont become a burden on my kids and mom..

I have found that lip balm and a soothing body lotion helps, as does hard candy. Some soothing music or tapes also. Thanks for the backscratcher idea! I like that lots.
