You are likely spending the last few days (or hours!) before your hysterectomy getting everything in order. There’s so much to do! Get things organized at work, at home, the family, and yourself. There are things to clean, to buy, to cook, to freeze, and to pack for the hospital. Here are some articles to help you get everything in order:

Do This – Not That: Preparing for Hysterectomy
10 Tips for Preparing for Your Hysterectomy
Do what you’re able, but try not to stress about getting everything just the way you want it. There comes a point where you have to let it go and know everything will work out all right. It’s important to spend some of your preparing time by preparing yourself physically and emotionally. You need to sleep, drink lots of water, clear your mind, and spend time with your family. Being well rested and happy helps put you on the best foot for your recovery.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Sep 16, 2018

Finally finished painting and deep cleaning the kitchen...whoo! I'm so glad to have it done before my surgery.
I'm having my LSH/BSO due to a failed endometrial ablation in June (also had rectocele repair and bladder sling done at the same time). My uterus kept trying to expel a period that wasn't there, leading to intense labor-like contractions that were showing up on a contraction monitor. I have also managed to grow 4 complex cysts on my left ovary and 2 fibroids in 3 months, so the doc is worried something's going on that needs to be addressed. He's also checking me for endo while he's in there. Frankly, I'm relieved and can't wait to be on the other side!

Does anyone know if it would be possible to ask for something to help me sleep after surgery? I've had a couple surgeries under general anesthesia and for some reason, I wake up overly alert and bouncing off the walls. Coupled with the fact that I'm still out of it from the drugs...basically I act like a 20-something at a bachelorette party and it gets a little embarrassing. Is that something I'd talk to the surgeon about or the anesthesiologist? I'm worried that I won't be able to rest and cause damage to the surgery site.

I guess that's my only question. Other than that, I've been getting as much as I can done around the house for the past 2 weeks. Yes, the house isn't perfect and there's a couple things on my list I didn't get to, but I'm OK with it. Meals have been prepped, arrangements for kids to get to/from school have been made, my "recovery space" is organized. I'm freaking ready!!!!
