Desperate for help, please!

This is my first try at a message board so I hope you will bear with my story and be willing to share any and all advice that you have to give. I'm 36 years old and I guess the problems began after an ectopic pregnancy 2 years ago-I lost the right tube. Afterwards, I began having heavier periods, breakthrough bleeding, and some pain on right side(Dr. thought it was kidney stone). I had my second c-section last November and by March I had laproscopy for cyst on left side and had remaining tube tied. Here's where it get's interesting...I had the flu 5/26- temp was 102.5. Then the right side pelvic pain began...
5/26-present low grade temp daily 99.1-101.2
6/13 nasal culture - positive for staph and strep
6/15 us - cyst on right ovary
ct scan sinus - clear
cbc - normal
6/21-6/25 abnormal discharge
6/25 pap test - abnormal- bacteria
cervical culture - negative
6/29 began seeing Dr. for fever of unknown origin
blood work for everything - negative
7/4 ER - for right side pelvic pain(began bleeding)
7/6 laproscopy - drained cyst and removed
adhesions(Dr. thinks Endometriosis)
7/13-7/18 more discharge and pelvic pain
7/28 began bleeding and pelvic pain
7/30 us - little bit of scarring in endometrial cavity
stool studies - negative
cervical culture - negative
8/9-8/12 discharge and extreme pain
CA125 - slightly elevated
ab & pelvic ct scan - small cysts on both sides
8/17 colonoscopy - negative
My obgyn wants to do a complete hysterectomy, he thinks my uterus is not functioning properly along with discharge, heavy bleeding, and cysts. He doesn't think birth control pills will work because of past breakthrough bleeding. Internal medicine specialist has no idea what's causing fevers- all tests negative-he wants to wait and see(he is not in pain and his life is not being put on hold!). I have absolutly no idea of what to do - second opinion, hysterectomy, drug therapy. I'm just tired of treating symptoms and not solving problem-whatever it is! If anyone can comment, share ideas or own experiences, or has any advice I would be so thankful. Thanks for lending an ear and sorry for the length-trying to give complete picture. Thanks, Pamme

Dear Pamme,

I hope you will consider a 2nd and even a 3rd medical opinion. This is major surgery, and perhaps you will be successful with a less-invasive treatment. My doc #2 had much more cutting & pasting in mind than my doc #3 (and eventual surgeon).

Get smart about your symptoms and your options, and make the best choice for YOU.

Sending huge cyberhugs
