Quick replies needed! Hysteroscopy on Wedn

There's a mass and a polyp in my uterus. Having the hysteroscopy onWednesday and I'm seriously nervous.

They told me that it was similar med to what they use for a colonoscopy. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and was aware at what was going on and felt discomfort.

I'm so afraid that will happen again! Only this time, it would be more painful as the doc is removing the mass and the polyp.

The doc mentioned a med and said they refer to it as 'white gold'. I can't remember what the actual med name is.
Does anyone know what it is??

I don't want to be aware while this procedure is being done!

Thanks.

Re: Quick replies needed! Hysteroscopy on Wedn

Hi Liz, I don't know what "white gold" is, but let the anesthesiologist know about your past experienced and tell him you definitely want to be out. I have no recollection of my last two hysteroscopies or endoscope. But I recall discomfort with my first endoscope when dr took biopsy samples. During my colonoscopy I remember watching bits of the procedure on the screen but no pain. Good luck tomorrow!

Have you told them about your nervousness, with the specifics? Maybe they COULD knock you out. Or, at least, increase the dosage a wee bit so that you don't have the discomfort.

I've honestly found that most doctors, when you let them know of a past difficult experience, make it a personal point of pride to try and give you a better second time around.

Either way, this will be done by this time tomorrow--imagine yourself re-reading this thread on the other side of it. It'll happen, and soon: this is so close to behind you now.

Thinking good thoughts for you!

I told the doc but haven't spoken with the anesthesiologist yet.

He's talking about Propofol....it's actually what Michael Jackson od'ed on.
I had a colonoscopy last year and remember the medicine in the syringe being white. I wasn't even awake for the whole syringe to be put in. The best part was that I wasn't floopy and drugged feeling the rest of the day.

When I had an endoscopy a few yrs ago they used a different medicine

Yeah, that's what I think I got. I felt drugged even yesterday! We'll see how I feel today.

I also have a couple painful glands in my neck (after the surgery.) No idea what's going on with that. I was hoping it would be gone today.
