Adenomyosis, age 41, Pain, tiredness, do I have a Hysterectomy?

Hello Ladies

I am New to the site and have loads I would like to find out. So about me:

I am 41 and have 2 children, I natural and I C-section. Since my c-section in 2008 things have never been the same for me!

I suffer cystitis all the time, especially after intercourse and have trouble with my bowels, either not being able to go or going all the time. I have awful period pains that start mid month and just get worse until I come on and then heavy periods although only heavy for 2 -3 days the a normal flow and what is worse is the low mood, constant tiredness and just washed out and not forgetting low libido and vaginal dryness. I seem to spend all my time stating that I am in pain or feel uncomfortable. My tummy is tender all the time, as I wash up and my tummy touches against the sink its tender.

I have had several exploratory procedures and the last one revealed that I have Adenomyosis, the options were Zoladex which I have had before and made me feel awful, hysterectomy or live with it which I decided I would do!! That was 6 months ago and now I am pulling my hair out as each month it gets worse. I have an appointment to referred back to my surgeon to discuss having the hyster but can I ask if anyone has had anything similar and has the hyster helped with respect to the pelvic pain? Has it improved sex drive? how have the HRT made you feel? Did you gain weight?? I am always having a weight battle and have since i started my periods and wondered if this would change.

Thanks so much for any help, advice or stories shared and sorry for the long post but I feel desperate.

Re: Adenomyosis, age 41, Pain, tiredness, do I have a Hysterectomy?

Hi, there.
I’m new and looking for answers, too. I just wanted to say that I’m 45, adenomyosis, c-sectioned in 1996 and 2000 so we have a lot in common.

My pain is maybe a 3 now but I know it’s worsening so I’m not going to wait until it’s unbearable. My anemia will kill me first.

I’m scheduled for April for a LAP procedure and can’t take opiates. I’m going to search out some answers here, too hopefully. Fingers crossed.

So, sorry. No helpful information, I know but we are in similar boats and that’s the first time I’ve actually seen another “me” out there. Let’s hope we both get better soon!

Re: Adenomyosis, age 41, Pain, tiredness, do I have a Hysterectomy?

Hello!
I finally got diagnosed with Adenomyosis last month after complaining of symptoms for 10 years. Has diagnostic surgery in ‘08 looking for endo and when they came up clear a loose diagnosis of IBS was to blame pain and bloating. Have been very anemic for 3 years and pain has gotten so much worse. Went back in for (another) ultra sound and finally it was obvious what was happening. I am done with kids (have 3 all natural births) am 39 and have fibromyalgia. I just want the pain and constant bleeding to stop! Bleeding between periods along with heavy periods so deciding for hyster felt easy for me. Waiting for uterine biopsy results from 3/2, but surgery is scheduled for 4/25. Now the nerves have kicked in. Plan is for vaginal, leaving ovaries. Sorry if this was jumbled, that is kinda how I’m feeling- flustered!

Thanks- Brenda
