Tomorrow will be one month since my total hysterectomy and oophorectomy (sp) via LAP and vagina, and I feel great. I had huge fibroids, endometriosis and my uterus was just a mess. I feel better than I have in years.
I somehow made it through nursing school at 41 and am ready to start a new career pain free, that is from the fibroids. The concept of not being weighed down with pain and fibroids is so exciting. The endo grows inward down toward my left thigh. That may still give me discomfort, but it won't be anything like before. I got so used to being in pain that I thought that was what normal felt like.
I am lucky that I was able to lay low and let my body heal after surgery. The wall of fatigue seemed to hit everyday about 3:00 pm and I had to lie down and sleep. There were bowel issues at first, but once my body got used to all the new room my organs calmed down.
I am on Vivelle 0.1 mg and so far so good. Does anyone have any hints about getting the adhesive off skin? I have tried alcohol without any results. Any suggestions?
Having a hysterectomy was a long time coming, and I am so happy to say that it was the best choice for me. Not having PMS, cramps, bloating, bleeding and mood swings is sooooooooo nice.
I wish all of us good health and happier days ahead.

It is almost 5 weeks post-op. Just want to share to you that my body feels lighter and healthier. It is ok now to drive with automatic transmission to short distances (5-10 min). Haven't attempt driving stick shift yet. Waiting for the 6 weeks post-op clearance. Other than that life is good. Husband is doing fine, too, after his accident with his finger. Will keep you posted on that since part of his tip of finger was severed together with portion of the nail, Yeaks! I think that that hurt me more than my current condition. Thanks for your kind words and wishes earlier my Hystersisters.

Wednesday will be 5 weeks for me and I have to admit that I didn't realize how bad I was feeling since I started feeling soooo good! Even with a setback, I am starting to resume my life and will be going back to work next week part time then full speed the following week. I have finally started sleeping better which is a blessing. I wish continuing good health and happiness to all of you!!!

I'm 5 wks tomorrow and really starting to get some energy back. We took a car trip to see the grandbaby and I did really well going out and coming home. I should be able to start back to work next week if the Dr. releases me-I see him a week from today. I am going to have to wear loose clothing for a while-still somewhat sore and swollen.

Hi! Ladies,
5 weeks on Wednesday for me. Found out that I could walk farther and a little faster than the first two weeks. Could go at least to the super market and back without feeling exhausted. Abdomen area looks flatter, but over due it and it swells back. Still a little achy after a walk. Enjoy the nice weather, and walk when you can, ladies.

Hi ladies, I had my TAH and bladder sling on June 1st. I'm feeling so much better. I'm going back to work as an RN on July 30th, so I have lots of time. My hubby says he can't believe how I'm moving around. Last night, I did some mild abdomen exercises.....I'm really weak. Also doing kegel exercises. Not sure if I'm doing them right. I have a question....my urologist has me taking colace twice a day for 2 months!!! Yes, 2 months. I don't know if it's the colace or what but do you guys get gas pain. I get constipated at times. Then I get horrible, I mean horrible gas pains. Then I get diarrhea. I'm not sure if this is normal. Do you guys still get gas pains? I've been watching what I eat and trying to drink lots of fluids. Just not sure if this is normal....this gas pain, constipation, and diarrhea. It's weird, but the gas pain is so horrific. I get doubled over. I've had it since the second week post-op. I mentioned it to the doctor and he said to keep on the colace b/c he doesn't want me constipated at all. Is anybody else having similar problems?
