Freaking out

I need to call my doctor today and see if he can do something to help with the anxiety I'm experiencing. I'm not coping.

Yesterday, I was resolved and in a "let's just get this over with" place. That was much better than lying awake all night or dreaming of my teeth falling out or sobbing in the shower again......

I am so scared. And I don't know of what, but I am- and the waiting, the buildup has been absolutely taking a toll on me.

Re: Freaking out

This is the hardest part of your surgery...I was a total basket case before mine....I had never had surgery before. I was terrified over everything. I'm glad your going to call the doctor....they should be able to help you...I sure wished I did. I never thought to call the doctor to get something. I kept my self busy.....I was even doing laundry at 3 am. I was totally exhausted by the time I had to go in for surgery. But my surgery wasn't NEARLY as bad as I imagined. The hospital staff took great care of me. Good luck to yea!!! sending cyber-hugs!!!

Re: Freaking out

I'm there with ya. Went to my pre-op and almost had a little breakdown when I was signing away the rights to my uterus. I thought I was "ok with it".

I got through my appointment, and now can not stop thinking about Nov. 9th, looming out there in front of me. I am waking up @ 3:30 - 4 am and can't sleep. On the plus side; I get up and do housework, laundry, internet, work from home and breakfast all before 5am! LOL

I agree with the other ladies: this too shall pass. All I keep hearing is how worth it the final result is. I know it will be much better than what I have been going through the last 2 years!

I have a friend who had vag, said it was like she did 200 sit ups. Another just had TAH 2 weeks ago. She is home and feeling GREAT.

I don't want to add any unnecessary meds to my system before surgery. But, that's me. So, see if you can find a good book, laundry, housework, or tylenol pm. Don't be embarassed or self conscious about asking the doctor for a little something to ease your nerves.

I find the forum really encouraging and calming. It helps me to see other peoples success stories and reassurances that everything is going to be fine.

Hang in there!

Re: Freaking out

~SL~,

I too was so scared about the hysterectomy, that I was an emotional .

I talked with my family doctor about it and she perscribed something for anxiety. It helped me to maintain my sanity during the waiting period.

It also helps to talk about your fears and questions you might have along the way!

Re: Freaking out

I'm feeling a bit anxious about mine too...it's on the 13th. I tend to not freak out but I was awake at 3am and the first thing I was thinking about was the surgery. all I can do is trust that the doc has done this a 1000000 times and the staff at the hospital know what they are doing and I have a wonderful husband to come home too and who will help out. Hang in there.....I think we'll all be fine.
