Home after LSH

Hi guys...remember me...I was hoping vodka was a clear liquid because I was losing it with the bowel prep...that was more than a week ago. I walked a half mile yesterday!

I did decide that a little white wine was a clear liquid and that with a little broth from wonton soup at the local Thai restaurant pulled me through that last night.

Surgery was not exactly as planned. My uterus was not 14 weeks, but 20 weeks.....UGH, but my brave surgeopn stuck with the plan to do it laproscopically. 4 hours later I gave birth to a 20 week uterus. I needed a pint of blood to do it. I too was anemic going in. Before the surgery I was taking iron supplements, but a last minute period undid all that good work. I stayed overnight and the next day had some blood pressure problems and was weak and nauseous....a little more blood helped.

I am now a week out and very happy I did this.

Things to consider.....If you are anemic take those iron supplements religiously before surgery!

More importantly...I have been dealing with fibroids and bleding for years. I considered surgery at 50, but I thought menopause was around the corner...meaning my fibroids wouldn't get worse and eventually would shrink. WRONG. At 54 my uterus was its largest!

LSH ...removed tubes and ovaries (history of breast cancer at age 39)

home ! I'm sorry you had some problems while at the castle but I hope all of that is behind you and you're now on the way to a very uneventful recovery! Remember to drink water, walk, and rest! Most of all...let everyone give you the royal treatment!

I still think vodka is a clear liquid but I was told at my Pre-op I can have normal food til midnight but he was very clear no aspirin, advil(which is the only thing I can take for pain) and no alcohol 5 days before trust me I could use a shot right now so I will concede and go take the xanax he said I could take and gave me a prescription for yesterday actually think it works better then the Advil and alchol combined

So glad to hear that your LSH went well, after the initial problems.

Not to take this off topic, but I didn't know the doc could tell you the size of your uterus before surgery. Heck, I don't even know if mine is larger than normal/expected or not.
