Frustrated

I'm getting so frustrated. My surgery is not until January 9th. I've been having a lot of problems with pain. I'm taking pain meds, but I'm having a lot of breakthrough pain. I've also started passing clots. I've been getting lightheaded and even fainted the other day. To top it all my blood work came back from my family doctor and my iron is really low - 35.

I called my gyn to let them know what is going on. They really didn't seem very concerned. Just said to take my iron pills and drink lots of fluids. They said there isn't much they can do if I come in, so if it gets bad later (uh, did I mention it's already bad) to go to the ER. What can the ER do other than what I'm already doing? Would going to the ER speed things up a bit? I hate going to the ER unless I really have to.

I'm just so frustrated with all of this that I'm beginning to get depressed. I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up on January 10th. I guess it doesn't help that I'm not sleeping much either. Being tired makes it harder to deal with everything. I'm trying to stay nice and calm and relaxed but I think if I do any more deep breathing or drink one more cup of tea I'm going to scream.

Thanks for letting me vent,
Wendy

Hi Wendy,

I know how you feel! I've been fighting for my hysterectomy for two years now! I was in severe pain back in March of this year, took me a month before I could see my surgeon so that brings us to April. I saw him, he said he would do the surgery, I signed the consent form and he said someone will contact you with the surgery date. I waited a month! to hear from them and when they called it was to tell me that my surgery is booked for December 12th! I wanted to cry, I had to go through all of summer in pain I'm almost at the finish line now and I can't wait to get it over and done with...So hang in there, if you need to vent some more, go for it, the ladies in here don't mind I can assure you!

Good luck

Hey Wendy -

I am sorry you are having pain and feeling so tired. I had to wait from July 3 to August 5th and waiting was worse than post op and I didn't have the issues you are having.

Can they not get you in any sooner or do you want to wait until after Christmas? I wonder if you go to the ER if they would do emergency surgery or if they would give you more meds?

Lord -
Give Wendy your peace and patience to wait for your perfect timing. You are in control and we ask that you encourage her and strengthen her to get through this time of waiting. I ask this is Jesus name, Amen.

Hi Paintedlady,

I'm so sorry that you are waiting so long. I'm amazed at the wait times. I've had other things done (non emergency) with hardly a wait. I hope the time will go quickly for you.

Hi Marcia,

I know, waiting is always the worst. Too much time to drive yourself crazy. It's hard enough when you're feeling OK.

I didn't want to wait until after Christmas, that was their first available. I wanted it that day LOL. If I thought going to the ER would make them do it on an emergency basis I'd be there in a heart beat. At least if I went to the ER the gyn might realize how bad the pain and everything else is. (DH is still mad at me for not going when I fainted.)

Thanks,
Wendy

I hope this will be the last one for you, Paintedlady. It sounds like you've had more than your fair share of abdominal trouble.

I can relate to what you're saying completely. I was diagnosed the beginning of last year with possible adenomyosis- was also having ovarian cysts that would burst on occasion, but couldn't handle any kind of hormone therapy. This past September I hit my wall, as the pain, cycles, bleeding and clots seemed to get worse and worse. Things seemed to escalate rapidly to the point of almost incapacitating me.

My ob/gyn wanted to schedule the hyst "ASAP" but wanted another u/s, which took several weeks. Then I had to schedule a meeting w/a general surgeon to discuss possible issues w/a hernia patch (another few weeks). Every week or so another "specialist" was inserted into the mix based on my symptoms, including irritable bowel (probably stress...adhesions?). I'm on my 3rd heavy painful cycle since, and still no date. I see a new ob/gyn next week- I'm hoping for progress....date, please!

This adeno really takes a toll. I'm spent and at my wit's end.
