Surgery Canceled... maybe?

I just got a call from the pre-admissions clinic asking if I was still coming in because they got a notice that my surgery was on hold... They got the notice on FRIDAY? And I wasn't contacted by my OB/GYN's office? Since I haven't heard anything from my doctor, they told me to still come in, but I left a message on my doctor's answering machine and hopefully they'll be getting back to me in about 40 min when the office opens. Of course, by then I'll be in transit to my apointment.

I'm sorry, I just had to vent before I ran out the door to a pre-op that I may not need.

Re: Surgery Canceled... maybe?

Just got the call from my OBG/YN. The surgery was cancelled last Friday, they just didn't bother to call me. I still have to do my pre-op because it is good for 3 months. However, they now don't have any idea I'd when I will be getting in. Trying not to cry in the clinic.

Re: Surgery Canceled... maybe?

It might be an error by the hospital. While I was in the middle of bowel prep the day before my surgery, the hospital called to confrim my "outpatient surgery" and when I said no, it's inpatient LAVH/+ for uterine CA, they became alarmed and said, uh, we'll have to call you back. It was almost an hour before they called back and said they had an OR so it was still on. Whew!

I'm so sorry that the dr office couldn't be considerate enough to call you with the cancellation. I would be crying too. Good luck and I hope they come up with a date real soon. (((hugs)))

Re: Surgery Canceled... maybe?

I just got home and I feel completely deflated. I was actually very excited that this was going to be over and done with. Scared, but happy is probably the best way to explain it.

I decided on the way home to cheat on my diet... so I bought some low fat cookies and no fat ice cream to make ice cream sandwiches. I know it won't make me feel better, but it will taste good.
