Anemia & Blood transfusion

Hello Everyone,
I AM A 35 YEAR OLS WIDOW OF 4, MY OLDEST IS 18 AND I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A LOT OF BLEEDING, I EVEN KNEW THAT I HAD FIBROIDS BUT OVER THE YEARS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE HEAVY BLEEDING I ALWAYS BLEED THE NORMAL 5 DAYS. I RECENTLY WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND WAS TOLD I WAS SEVERLY ANEMIC FROM LOSS OF BLOOD EACH MONTH. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO BUILD MY BLLOD AND NOW MY TAH IS POST PONED FROM SURGERY WORRIES BECAUSE MY BLLOD IS SO LOW, HAS ANYONE EVER EXPERIENCED THIS, PLEASE HELP, I'M SCARED, NERVOUS AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO?

ALSO I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE DESIRE NOT TO HAVE SEX AFTER HYSTERECTOMY, IS THAT TRUE?

Anemia & Blood transfusion

Marcy,

They found I was very anemic too, it caused me to have a very severe atrial fibrillation (incredibly fast heartrate). I ended up in the emergency room and in the hospital for 2 days while they gave me 4 pints of blood and checked me for internal bleeding.
I only bled for 5-7 days too but one or two of them were very heavy. After the transfusions my blood levels were still low so I started taking iron pills each day and my levels came up enough to have surgery. They took another blood test after the surgery and it's fine now. Have they checked you for other sources of bleeding? I had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy to rule out other things prior to them deciding it was from heavy periods and not replacing the iron in my diet.

As for desire, I'll say this. I am single and have been without a SO for six years. Prior to this surgery I felt so bloated and terrible I didn't care if I ever had sex again. Now that the big fibroid is gone and my blood levels are normal again I can't WAIT to have sex again. (I would ONLY say this here on this site - I'm actually a little embarrassed!) I'm feeling good enough to get back into shape like I was prior to all this. Now all I have to do is FIND someone! lol!

In any case that has been my experience, but please talk to your doctor, I was menopausal already but you are much younger and being tossed into premature menopause might make a difference initially but can be handled through hormone replacement. Reading through other threads indicates to me that lots of women feel so much better that sex is actually better too!

Hugs and wishes

Pam

Endoscopy & Colonoscopy

I was scheduled for these test this week and they could not complete the test because the fibroids have blocked my cervix. Also the fibroids are blocking and sitting on my bowels as well and the iron constipates me so much. I want to have the transfution only because i don't think i could go 1 more month, at this rate. I know get 1 good week out of a month pain, and fibriod aggravated free. i am scared to be transfused but I have been told my blood is so low that no one would put me to sleep.

Thanks for youe quick response and prayers!
