Re: Surgery this Tuesday March 6, I don't know if I can go through with it

Hi ladies, just wanted to say hi and thank you to all who gave me such great advice and support. A quick update, I did have my hysterctomy Tuesday. After much prayer, I finally found the peace that I needed to have the surgery. I thought I was having a LAVH and to my surprise I only need a vaginal hysterectomy I am so thankful as my recovery so far has been amazing. Today I do not feel like I had surgery at all, I even feel "guilty" because I feel so normal, just a little tired. I will post on the post-op board later today as I do have some questions. I hope that everyone recovering from their surgeries are having a smooth one and to those ladies "in waiting" I pray that your surgeries go as smoothly as mine did, I am very thankful for this and will thank God every day for such little pain. Many hugs, Heather

So glad you reached a decision you were happy with, and that it's all gone so well this far. Hope you continue to heal well.
Thanks for the update - I'd been wondering how you were doing.
Take care, and look after yourself! xx

Yay Rainbow!! I am so happy for you. Godspeed for a quick and relatively painless recovery. You are an inspiration and I am glad things went smoothly. We knew you could do it! I have been looking for you...figured we would have heard earlier if you had decided not to go through with it. Now get some rest!

Re: Surgery this Tuesday March 6, I don't know if I can go through with it

Thank you Rapidreader, Littlestar 31 & Allison SO MUCH for thinking of me! The advice and "You Can Do it" support I received from the women on Hystersisters helped me SO MUCH! Allison, I discovered that the fear I had prior to my surgery was unecessary, mine was paralyzing. I can't believe how sick I made myself Yes, as many have said, fear is ABSOLUTELY normal! But now that I am post-op I am amazed at the pain-free recovery I am having so far. It is my hope for you that you will have a similar experience and that you will find the peace that I did the afternoon before my surgery. I am not sure of your beliefs, but I know that praying helped me Be sure to keep yourself as busy as possible during the days leading up to your surgery. I was non-stop busy the two days before mine and this helped me immensely. I almost overdid it though, was too tired to pack the night before I was to leave for the hospital! I was packing my bag at 4 am, I do not recommend this! Good luck and best wishes to you and the other sisters facing their surgeries. My thoughts and prayers are also with the sisters who are recovering or still recovering. I will definitely be in touch.

Re: Surgery this Tuesday March 6, I don't know if I can go through with it

Glad to hear you had a good surgery RainbowsEnd. Just came home myself today from my Tuesday surgery and I feel the recovery is not as bad from the vaginal surgery. Still was warned not to lift over 10 lbs for six weeks and to careful not to put too much stress on the abdomen as you don't want to pull the stitches lose....needs good scarring there to toughen the area up.

Hope to catch you on the post op side of the board.
