Ilioinguinal Nerve Pain - Anyone else?

Hey sisters - I am nearly 2 years post hysterectomy and really suffering. I have ongoing pain in my left side which the surgeon believes is Ilioinguinal Nerve Pain. I am waiting for a Nerve Block under ultrasound but my previous nerve block didn't work.

I am almost as miserable as before my hysterectomy. Just reaching out to see who else is suffering and if anyone has any pain management tips.

Thanks ☺️

Re: Ilioinguinal Nerve Pain - Anyone else?

I am so sorry that you are going through this.

I have had chronic pain on both sides since my hysterectomy in 2010. It has never been specifically diagnosed (despite visits to many specialists), so I am not sure if the cause is the same as yours. I did take pain meds for many years, but am off everything now. The meds did help, but we had to go through many options to home in on the best option for me. If you need to go that route, I would strongly recommend seeing a pain specialist. Physical therapy helped a bit. Now I mostly just rely on my heating pad (which helps a lot).

I am wondering, how was your condition diagnosed...tests, symptoms, etc. ? Also, what makes your pain worse or better?

I wish you the best with your upcoming procedure, and hope it works better than the last one. Are there other treatments that you can pursue if this one is ineffective?

I don't have any personal insight or tips, but I wanted to point you in the direction of past posts which may offer some guidance. If you scroll down below our posts here, you'll see a list of "Similar Threads From This Forum". Perhaps you'll find some tips there.

I did read one post, Ilioinguinal nerve entrapment (03/2010), where one member shared a good outcome with cryoablation.

I hope the nerve block will help you.
