Pre-Op appt.

Never had surgery, what do I have to look foward to for my pre-op appt. Still waiting for my DR to call me with a date. I keep telling myself nothing can be as bad as the endo biospy..'Ouch'
Gonna get rid of this bad case of endo hyperplasia. I too feel like I'll be going on an adventure. And after reading so many posts that say while waiting to talk out your feelings to hubby, friends, my cats and horses too. I have and it sure eases the stress of waiting.

HI Trailblazer

The pre-op apt., is pretty easy and pain free for most of us. You can probably expect:
Blood Draw
EKG
Chest X-Ray
Q&A with the Nurse
Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork
That was it for me anyway.

And you are right, nothing is worse than the endo biopsy. Even the discomfort from the surgery was not that BAD!
Okay the recovery lasts longer. But seriously it wasn't as bad. Doesn't that make you feel a little better? Maybe the worst is behind you. Waiting really is the hardest part.

Yikes!!!!!

Endo biopsy????!!! What's an endo biopsy????!!! I had a lap about a month ago and that was when the dr told me I needed a hyst for the endo and adhesions. Do I need to have one of those as part of the pre op appt? Any thoughts???

(I guess I could ask the dr but would like to know what it is so I don't sound like a complete idiot when I ask. UGH.)

Thanks!!!!

Pre-Op appt.

I don't know what that is Lizzie, I know that you can ask your doctor anything though! I did and I was so glad I did too! I had a uterine sampling done, I was in pain from that!

My pre-op was in 2 parts. First I talked with the doctors and had them answer my questions. They told me about the surgery.

Then, I went and did all the paperwork, got my blood drawn and my cups for the pee sample.

endo biospy

It was an Endometrial Biospy, and I don't think everybody has to have one. It happen to be part of my yearly exam this year because of the severe cycles and pain I was having. That and the ultra-sound was what my doctor based her decision off of for my surgery.
And yes, it's totally up to your doctor. It's not part of the pre-op, at least mine wasn't. I also take Tamoxifen as a Breast cancer Preventive, for the long history of 'estrogen fed' tumors in my family. And the biospy and ultra-sound are part of that routine every year. However I was already having problems before the Tamoxifen.
Good Luck!
