I completely hear you about the fear. Yes, I did attempt to vacuum MY area and I have pulled more than a few dead frawns and weeds.......but I am SUPER afraid to get hurt. I don't go anywhere without my car pillow and I do hold my tummy when I walk outside but not inside....what;s with that? I am afraid of animals an others in the room that might touch or aim at my incision.....strange fears.

I have got to get this undercontrol so I can get to walking. I have no physical reason to be so fearful except the strange feelings we are all having. Kinda like there is an alien the size of a red brick trying to rip out of my abdomen!

Hang in there...our fears will pass and we will return to normal.

Phillipians 446, thanks for the backing. Good luck on your return to work. My doc says maybe not till 6 weeks and maybe not even then... I really try and be a good patient. We have all been thru much to risk complications. Lets encourage all our hystersisters to be patient with their bodies.Where in Florida are you from?

LaRae----i feel exactly like that. yesterday my sister visited and she was holding her dog (who wouldnt sit still and kept moving). I was dying the whole time thinking that the dog would get near my tummy. I'm so glad to hear that I am not the only one holding my belly when I walk!!!

bosslady---I am in Pembroke Pines. btw--i had a tlh. i think the recovery is supposed to be a little faster but since I'm a scaredy cat.....its going a little slow for me.

hi thanks for all your responses...

he has seen some lists, i guess i should show them again... i feel like, he is thinking, that me... showing him those lists, or telling him i cant, is like,.. 'excuses' to get out of doing stuff...

i had a TAH plus ovaries and cervix out... (and i have not dwelt on that fact yet, i am scared to fall into depression right now ... so, just trying to heal)

I think he thinks, i am not trying HARD enough to get better. today i did some laundry... well, he carried them to the basement.. and i put them in.. i guess i could do some dishes...

i want to help, at the same time, if i do, he may start to think, oh, i am better now, and so can do more... (i like having my meals cooked for me.. hehehe.. i have been the main cook forever)... and he is a good cook.

i love him, and i know he is stressed and tired and overbusy... and i hate having to say things like... to defend myself... 'YOU have not just had your insides ripped out!!" i try not to be like that, but, it comes out sometimes... heh

i had my post op, 2 weeks after... cause i was having severe pain in my lower left side, so she said to come in... she said then, that things looked like they were healing well, and that i dont need to come back to my 4-5 week appt, and just that when i am feeling better to start adding things back in, like driving, etc... she said 3 weeks for s e x .. ahem... but i am still scared, like... shouldnt she be CHECKING that things have mended inside?

anyways... thanks for the support.

ohyah, i am 40 (Just) and live in Saskatchewan, Bopper oh, but my dr is just newly come here from Ottawa...

I just logged on after being off for a few days. I'm so glad your family members are alright. I will pray for the other family member. I can't even imagine what you must be going thru. Take care and know that you have alot of Hyster Sisters praying for you and everyone there.

Zaf -
If you go to the Post-Op section, there is some great info about what you can do and what you shouldn't do. If you do more than you should at this point, you might actually prolong your recovery! That is the unfortunate part of this point of our recovery (I had a TAH/LSO) - the energy is returning and we seem to be healed outwardly, however, internally we have quite a bit to go and that is very crucial. That is why we are told not to lift, push, pull, or anything that would use that part of our anatomy. You need to gently explain this to your husband. Have you had a post-op yet? I am sure your doctor would tell you the same.

I am, unfortunately, somewhat in the same situation although my husband isn't necessarily "telling" me to do more. What I ran into, as may other sisters have also experienced - the minute I began to get dressed and do some light housework - all of a sudden my family thinks I am back to normal and can resume all the tasks I handled prior to surgery.

I have learned to be blunt with my family and just tell them - I am not doing...I am still healing...I need your help....I need you to do....

Increased swelly belly

Has anyone else noticed now that they are on their feet more, that the have more belly swelling? When I was resting more, my stomach was almost as flat as it was prior to surgery and
i actually could see the contour of my waist. Honestly, I look pregnant!
