surgery ?

I have not had surgery in a long time. I wear acrylic nails. Do I need to have them removed before surgery?

nails

HMMM,

For safety I would remove them. With all the drugs maybe you will sctratch yourself! Hospitals here require their removal so they can see your color under the toes and fingers. Maybe your doctor will be happy looking at your toes only.

surgery ?

Maybe you can ask if you can ask if only one or two be removed instead of them all?

surgery ?

For abdominal surgery I had last summer, I was not told to remove any nail polish of any kind. It's mainly because they have oxygen monitors on us and believe me, they are closely monitoring the oxygen levels in your blood with sophisticated machinery. However, ask your doctor or anesthesiologist to be sure. I also have acrylic nails and am very glad I don't have to have them removed.

oxygen monitor

How advanced! Our hospitals must use the mirror at the mouth technique to know if we are taking in oxygen and check toe nail color to see if we are struggling. I am going to ask why we need to take polish off if we have monitors!

Sometimes I think I must move back to the mainland before anything else happens to me.
