How long does it normally last

OK I've heard many things like 4 and a half hours to 5 hours and some people say 2 hours. And when they say you will be in the hospital two days does that mean the day they do the surgery and you go home the next day or does that mean two nights? Just a simple question

Every surgery is different. Call your doctor's office and ask his nurse how long he's estimating. My dr. told my husband that I'd be in surgery about 3 hours, and in recovery the same amount of time. I ended up being in surgery 2hr. 40minutes, and in recovery about 2 hours.

I was certified by my dr. and by the insurance company for 7 days and 6 nights in the hospital if necessary. After two nights (3 days, counting surgery day) I was ready to go home and the doctor agreed!

Hi Kassie;
It depends on what procedure you have done and how well you recover. If it's TVH, you usually go home the next day, and my doc allowed 1 1/2 hrs for the surgery. For TAH, it's a 2 day stay, and I think they mean two nights. Possibly three. What type of surgery are you having done?
Love,
Sue

Hi. I had a TAH and my surgery lasted a couple of hours at the most. I had surgery at 2pm on a Fri and didn't go home until 3:30 the following Mon. It depends on your doctor, if you have any problems, and how soon you can pass gas.

Take care.
