Please keep in mind . . .
Hi all. It's been a little over a month since I had my operation. The most important thing I would like to tell everyone waiting to have their surgery is to keep in mind that we are all individuals. Lots of factors go into how your surgery experience will be. I was so terrified of how it would be, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I had feared. So when you are reading about how it was for other ladies on here, just keep it in perspective. Yours will be yours. Just please don't be scared. What I took with me to the hospital was the knowledge that most posts I read in here told of a surgery experience that was way better than people had expected. Just take it one hour at a time if you have to. Don't feel bad if you have an experience that is totally different from everyone else.
Take care. Please, please, please don't be scared. You are strong.
Shelly
P.S. - I couldn't afford to buy the rope thingie on here, so I bought some clothesline rope at the drug store. The while kind that is really soft. It was the most valuable thing I bought and it only cost me about three dollars. It really helps to use your arm muscles to pull yourself up in bed or in a recliner. That way, you don't use your abdominals too much. Also, those grabber things are wonderful. It's amazing how much you need to bend over in life. I thought I must be dropping things more than I usually did.

I absolutely agree with Shelly! The worst is the wait! Hang in there you will be on the Post Op side soon! I feel 100% better than I ever dreamed of feeling after surgery. Not saying I am not sore, achy and tired but nowhere near as bad as I thought I would feel. My best to all of you.

Thank you so much for your insight!
Where can I purchase a grabber? At the drugstores?

Kalena,
I found a grabber in the pharmacy section at WalMart. Also, the donut to sit on is right there with it. I am going back to get one of the squishy, squishy pillows (microbeads?) to use between my tummy and seatbelts and also between my knees for sleeping. Just thought I would suggest these things...Mary
