All done TAH

I went in for a TVH on Tuesday and ended up with a TAH because there was too much scar tissue to access my uterus vaginally. For anyone who is waiting for their turn, I can honestly say that the worst part was the anxiety pre op. I was so worried, especially the night before, but once I got to the hospital I had such a nice supportive team taking care of me. I was asleep before I knew it and was so happy when I woke up in recovery to find it was all over. I'm not going to lie, there is pain after and I am still really tired but it is manageable and I just keep reminding myself that I will feel better soon and there will be no more pain and bleeding!! I know I spent a lot of time pre op on this board so I just wanted to share a positive experience with those of you still waiting. Hugs and prayers to you all, I hope your surgeries go well!!

Re: All done TAH

butterflylady13: Glad to see your first post is so upbeat. I am intrigued by your screen name, as I have come to view this process of the surgically-induced menopause as similar to that of a caterpillar going into a cocoon (chrysalis) and coming out a butterfly on the other side. I’ve read several posts on HysterSister of women “going to the castle” and becoming “princesses,” but I think what I’m looking forward to is gaining my “wings”! Thanks for sharing the encouraging words.

Re: All done TAH

That is a great way of looking at it, it certainly is a transformative process. I do feel a little like I am in a cocoon as I rest I can't wait to emerge from healing with a set of beautiful wings! My screen name wasn't chosen with that in mind, I have just always noticed butterflies around at all the major moments of change in my life and I have come to view them as sort of a lucky symbol. I really like your analogy though. A positive attitude like that will really help you through this process. Best wishes as you prepare for your transformation!!
