only 8 days to go

Some days I feel fine, confident that everything will be ok. I am well organised have most things Iwill need after the surgery, and have no problems with family as i just have my husband and we live in an apartment. My main worries are the amount of meds they are going to give me after the op,i normally dont take conventional medication,I prefer to use alternative medicine. They told me they were going to give me anti biotics in case of infection and am worried what this might do to my system. I know I have no alternative whilst in the hospital but i have when I get home. Sometimes I just cant believe I am going through with this as I have never had surgery before, sorry probably just panicking. have been encouraged by the post op threads I have read.

Pre-op jitters. Hear they are common. ((hugs)) Not sure what surgery you're having, but some appear to be a little easier (at least not as long) to recover from so hope you're having one of those.

Have you had your pre-op appointment yet? If you haven't, write down your questions and concerns to go over with the docs then.

If you have, call the doc and ask.

Most of all, best wishes for an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery.

It sounds like you are prepared. I wouldn't worry about the antibiotics, they will help more then hurt. Exspecially at this time of the year, not only will they help ward off any infection but with all the colds going around right now, it will help protect against them also. Your body will be in a weakened condition for awhile and the antibiotics will help. I am 4 months post-op and right now I have a nasty sinus infection and have not been feeling well for 3 weeks. Finally went to the Dr's and got an antibiotic. Didn't want to, thought it would get better on it's own, but now I wish I would of went sooner, nasal cavities are blocked up with alot of blood. Sorry if to much information, but I think it is great that your Dr. is seeing into the future alittle and giving you antibiotics afterwards. Outside of the sinuses My Hyst. is the greatest thing I ever did for myself. No more feminine products overflowing the bathroom, and I am back to my old self. I feel like I have been reborn and living a pain-free life. After the surgery I had minimal pain, I only took five pain pills after returning home and I had an incision,(bikini cut). Every one heals differently, but I bet it will be alot more different then you imagine. I thought it was going to be so painful and was surprised when I hardly experienced any pain at all. Good Luck. Wishing you a speedy and pain-free surgery and recovery.
