Will waiting 2 months mess up my chances of daVinci?

I too am planning a Davinci Surgery and wondering if waiting an extra 2 months will mess up my chances of having this particular type surgery. I don't want the uterus or the fibroids to get bigger and cause me to have a TAH. Do any of you know if 2 months delay will hurt my chances? Also I am not 100 % ready emotionally. My friends recommend taking progesterone instead. Does that shrink them or any they uninformed. I have fibroids and a somewhat enlarged uterus. Thanks.

I had a daVinci hysterectomy April 9th. My doctor told me up front that there's always a possibility that once they got a look inside, they might have to open me up. I had fibroids that were diagnosed via ultrasound in January. The ultrasound reports said that the largest one was about 2 inches in diameter. When I finally had my surgery, my doctor was shocked to see that one of the fibroids was as big as my uterus. There were also two other fibroids about the size of an apple and an orange. I'm not sure if the ultrasound was inaccurate, or if the fibroids just grew that much, but my doctor was still able to do the surgery without having to make a big abdominal incision. The surgery did take a bit longer because of this- about 4 1/2 hours.

Dont know about progesterone but Lupron shuts down ovaries while on it. stops ur period and stops estrogen thru medicinal menopause which shrinks fibroids. Ask ur dr about lupron.

robbielyn, I am considering that too. I still wondering if I am delaying the inevitable. Picture me with words circling my head like; hysterectomy, Lupron, Birth Control, Davinci, Nothing at all. Around and around I go. Spinning my wheels and then shutting down and then spinning again.

Not yet. Got my gas x and colace and throat spray though. Need to buy pants and abdominal sling and food. Not anxious at all. Helps I'm getting surgery same place I work lol.

I didn't have fibroids, but an ultrasound back in October showed my uterus was 12 cm. I had a DvH scheduled for Dec 20 and panicked and canceled. After weighing all my options I rescheduled for March 6th. I got a cold and was rescheduled for April 24th. My uterus hadn't grown much in that time. But fibroids are different. Some are fast growing and some are not.

My uterus 13.2 cm. Just found out in March I had fibroids now I finally know the source of my pain. I have a garden of them 1 baseball size.

I had a dvh with removal of uterus only on April 13th. The surgery took 5 1/2 hrs due to the size of my uterus. It was the size of a volleyball. I dont think 2 months will change that much it took almost that long to get everything scheduled with my surgery. I think the waiting was the worst part. I'm 1 month tomorrow and feel great. I was back at work 1 week later and feeling like a new woman at 1 month. It really is not as hard as you build it up in your mind(trust me I was freaking out). So glad I did it now. Things are so much better.
