Have a question?

Hello.

I have been doing some research. For hysterectomy and other alternatives. And I found this article about Lysis of Epidual Adhesions utilizing the epridural approach. And was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it helped them at all?

Thanks

Have a question?

Hi Ladybug,
My knowledge of lysis for adhesions comes not from my experience, but from my mother's and brother's experiences with back surgery. My understanding is that scar tissue can result from surgery that sometimes surrounds nerve tissue. This can be very painful and cause inflammation.

The procedure you're asking about involves injecting saline solution & steroids through an epidural. The solution loosens the scar tissue, and sometimes they use the catheter to pull the tissue apart (ouch!). My brother had this done and, while it was very painful at the time, he felt it was successful. My mom wishes she had had something done before she required another back surgery, as the scarring created complications during her operation.

Here's a link I found describing the procedure:

Hope this helps!
