May 8-LIW Hello

Hi Sally,

I just want to send you some 's and to let you know that being scared about having surgery is a normal reaction.

You'll be on the other side before you know it, and will be back here posting to the other ladies that the worst part of it was the waiting part!!

Try to spend some time having fun this weekend, and get plenty of rest. It will help with your recovery.

Best of luck to you,

May 8-LIW Hello

Hi Sally:
I, too, am having my surgery on May 8. It also happens to be my 26th wedding anniversary. I can't really say that I am scared, YET. I've been so busy with work trying to get so much done in orer to be off for six I really haven't had a lot of time to think about it. I think my biggest fear is AFTER the surgery. I have a tough time with pain meds...and am worried about becoming nauseated after the surgery. My body has decided to give me a run for my money these past few days....really having a lot of pain and trouble with urinary retention. I guess it is just its way of getting revenge before the big day. Good luck to you.....

Scared is normal.

Being scared of the unknown is normal. Try to focus on life post-surgery. Once you recover you will have a new, healthier, and hopefully happier life.

My hyst was my first hospital stay and surgery. I was a little nervous - much less than I would have thought I'd be thanks to all the info on this website and others. When I found myself getting nervous I would think about life afterwards and remind myself why I was doing it in the first place.

I got nausea from my pain meds and when I did the nurses would give me a shot of something that eliminated it immediately! Modern technology is wonderful!

All the best to you. You'll be on the post-op side before you know it. Please let us know how you're doing as soon as you feel up to it and have a chance.
