Trying to have patience... feeling grumpy.

Tomorrow makes 3 weeks post-op for me. I'm doing lots better in general, but am struggling to have patience with this whole process! My doc warned me that I'd have low energy and not be able to do a whole lot physically, but I suppose I thought I'd be an exception to the rule! My hubby is being great, mostly scolding me for doing too much. I called my doc's office today because even though I kept my ovaries, I'm so moody, a lot like I used to be before I got my period. They've asked me to come in for blood work to see if I need temporary HRT. Has anyone else run into this?
I hope you all are doing well and are taking good care of yourselves! It's so nice to know I'm not alone!

Re: Trying to have patience... feeling grumpy.

I'm sorry you are not feeling well. I am not grumpy but emotional and depressed. I want to get out and go for a long walk, I want to take a long hot bubblle bath & I want to dig in and thoroughly clean the house. None of which I can do. Today, for the first time I cried. I am afraid of sinking into depression. I try to tell myself this is only temporary.

Re: Trying to have patience... feeling grumpy.

Hi ladies. It's normal to be emotional/sad or grumpy post op. Even if we keep our ovaries they may not work properly for a while after surgery. The blood supply is disrupted during surgery and it can take time to re-establish. I was very unhappy and cried a lot. It if gets worse or continues for too long, please talk to your doctor. It does get better.

Re: Trying to have patience... feeling grumpy.

Hello Ladies,
I am right there w/you on the having patience part. I too thought that I was going to be one of the "exception" because I thought I was in great shape. I was getting up early and doing P90X, up until surgery. Wow--whole new understanding of the term "Ab-Ripper". Yikes! I am just about at 3wks and also kept my ovaries. I keep trying to think about how things were only 2wks ago. I am getting stronger and able to do more. Had a massage at 2wks post op and plan another at 4wks. Considering even a pedicure--just for fun! One day at a time. Mom always said that. Guess she was right. Hang in there. We are all shoulders to lean on. Hugs!

Re: Trying to have patience... feeling grumpy.

Sorry to hear you're feeling so sad, shylady. It is hard to be impatient. If you're worried about the depression, please call your doctor. I really, truly believe that each day we spend recovering is a day toward a happier future!
