Could my fibroids be so big I'm losing my appetite?

I'm so glad I've found this board-wonderful information. My hysterectomy (keeping ovaries, I hope) is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2006. For several months now, I've slowly been losing my appetite and have lost a good bit of weight. It seems whenever I eat something it doesn't take more than a few bites to fill me up. When I asked my doctor's nurse about it she said it's possible the fibroids (I have 8 the doctor could see from the ultrasound) are pressing on my intestines. I thought it might be pressing on my stomach making me feel full but she said probably not my stomach. So I said, "great, now after I get everything taken out I'll get my appetite back and gain all this weight back!!!" The nurse didn't say much!!! Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks so much for the help as I have worked hard exercising and eating well in the past 2 years to lose this weight. Sure don't want to gain it all back.

Could my fibroids be so big I'm losing my appetite?

I have a similar situation. My fibroids are so large that the doctor says I am basically 5-6 months pregnant with them. I am rarely hungry. Occasionally if I haven't eaten in 7-8 hours but otherwise no. And it doesn't take much to fill me up. Hysterectomy on 11/8 for me.

It makes sense to me that if there's something there that's taking up all the room that it might make you feel full all the time. As for gaining weight - I actually lost several pounds after my surgery. I just didn't have much of an appetite and couldn't eat much at a time either.

Kudos for your diet and exercising - I did that several years ago ( lost about 75 pounds) and have kept it off.

Best wishes.
