Therma-Care Heat Wraps???

Dunno why I couldn't post this to the "hints' forum So...
Here's the question I'm having.

I know I'll be fast friends with my heating pad post-op, but what about those Therma-Care heat wraps that you use during "the week"???

The ones that wrap 'round your middle?!
I figured those would be wonderful.

What do y'all think!???

Re: Therma-Care Heat Wraps???

They would feel good, but I'm not sure you should have heat for that long at a time. Ask your Dr before you try it.

My instructions said heat for about 20 minutes at a time. I also read that extended heat can cause a rebound effect. I don't remember where I read it, so can't guarantee the source.

Re: Therma-Care Heat Wraps???

I bought a heating pad before my surgery, but never used it. I had no desire for heat. I was using the iced gel packs after my surgery which kept the swelling down and made me much more comfortable.

Re: Therma-Care Heat Wraps???

I would ask your doctor about that. It depends on what surgery you have also. For me heat would have made the inflammation worse.

Re: Therma-Care Heat Wraps???

I used one even in the hospital, and several times after, to help with gas pain. I bought the arm and shoulder ones, so they stayed 'up' higher on my belly, not right by my incision. My nurses thought they were a great idea. I had a TAH.
