TAH: Anyone out there who had hysterectomy for fibroids?

14lb. fibroid here.

I too had others in the OR while the surgery was taking place. My Dr. told me she will be using my case as a study for hysterectomies. My organs were pushed together. My "fundus" was above my navel, so eating, drinking became a chore due to the overwhelming feeling of fullness.

The swelly belly is still the WORST part for me. I have never had a tummy, no matter how heavy I get.( I have gained and lost hundreds of pounds over the years), yet at the end of the day, my abdomen feels huge!
However, as stated before, I wouldn't change a thing! I can eat, drink, and enjoy my life without the constant pain from my "abnormal uterus".

Hi! I had my proceedure 10/7/13. I had many smaller fibroids ,that I did have success shrinking holistically & 3 months with medication. However I also had several very large ones, that were creating all my pain/heavy periods and low iron due to loss of blood. The larger fibroids were not heavy, but took up space and made pain/pressure. (As doc put it, if I were carrying fetuses not fibroids, one was 20wks in size, the other was 16 weeks! And my uterus was over 1lb! Which he said was huge!) I have no regrets, I'm not 100% myself, but I felt almost immediate relief inside.

Hi there. I had a 3lb total which included one large fibroid at almost a pound and many others. I had a TAH at the end of August. I feel so much better. No anemia sleeping better no more anxiety attacks or restless legs at night. My life is back to normal ( I had forgotten what normal felt like). This past weekend I ran a 10k race and felt great
I did fight some swelly belly in recovery but I walked a lot and drank a ton of wAter every day ( felt like it helped?)
I am very very glad I had the surgery.
