Does Everyone Have To Wear Compression Stockings/Boots?

Just wondering if wearing compression stockings and/or boots happens to everyone having a Hysterectomy? I have read many posts about them and many that did not like them. Thank You.

I had them for the previous surgery for the mass removal, I'm sure they'll use them again. They were vinyl so they made my legs sweat and were itchy. But they didn't hurt otherwise..

I woke up from recovery with them on my legs. I didn't care for them b/c they made my legs itch like crazy. However, they did wonderful massages on the legs. I asked one of my nurses why they were on my legs & she said it was to prevent blood clots & help keep the circulation in my legs going. I only had to keep them on my legs until I got up & walking around the day after surgery.

I had to wear them when I had surgery in 2000. I only had to wear them until I was up and walking around. I don't remember them itching. Maybe I was just too out of it.

I'm sure I'll have to wear them again on Tuesday.

I had to wear the compression stockings anytime I was in bed. I thought they felt nice, kind of like a massage. You need them to prevent blot clots. I'd rather wear the stockings then get a blood clot! I didn't have any problem with itching from them.

I had the compression things on until the next day after my surgery because I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed until then. I woke up several times that night thinking my legs were swollen, then it would deflate and I'd remember I had them on. It was pretty funny. They weren't bad...just annoying. But I guess it's better to have them than to risk a blood clot.
