Low Iron And Anemia

My HGB was at 8.2 a month ago, which the normal range is between 11.6-15.5 according to what the dr said.
I don't know what all the abbrev. are on my papers, but I was low on 6 of them and high on one. And yes I feel tired all the time, want to sleep a lot.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'm sure another sister will be along soon to help.

Low Iron And Anemia

My numbers dropped as low as 7 before my surgery and I was taking 650 mg of iron every day. Once the surgery was over and I went home, my doc said to stop taking the iron. Within the first 5 days I really could feel a great increase in my energy!! I still take naps almost every day but I have not bled one drop since my surgery! My levels are already back to normal!!
Good luck...I hope for you as quick of a rebound as I had!

Low Iron And Anemia

I've been anemic for several years due to heavy periods. I fluxuate between 9 and 11. My goal is 12. However, I can never attain that number--even with the IV iron therapy that I had in '04. Concerned about that, I asked the surgeon during the pre-op. He reply was that he would just give me a transfusion. NOT the answer that I wanted to hear. No one has contacted me about my pre-op exam results, so I can only assume "all systems go" in 7 days.

Low Iron And Anemia

My dr said I would probably get a iv iron infusion if I wasn't absorbing it. I hope when I get my levels checked it's up good enough for him. Since I decided on a Aug. date I still have some time.
