Thank you. I got biopsy results. All clear so just waiting for date. My period decided to be horrible yesterday and today so I've been flat on the couch. And calked my dr hoping to fit in an iron infusion or something prior to going under. I'm just not wanting to be any more exhausted than I am cause I'll need to use restroom n shower etc.

Hi there! I remember my appointment when it was decided I needed a hysterectomy to end the "crap". I was going through...like you by the time the decision was made I was exhausted,,,, I think the waiting is the worst part.
As I come closer to my surgery date dec 8), I am getting more apprehensive...I just want it over! I was put off work because of the narcotics I was using for relief--- not daily. But enough to interfere with routine functioning....

Hang in there....talking to other women who have been there, or are going through it will help!

Before I found this site I was scared ****less! (Pardon my language). But the women here will give supportive answers to every question you could have, and every thought and fear you experience!

A lot of people don't understand the impact on your life this has....THESE WOMEN do! I thank god for bringing me here!

Take care! We are all here to support each other

Re: Waiting....

I had a biopsy last Friday, and have a pre op appointment with the consultant this Friday coming, when he will tell me the results and also when the op will be. The receptionist told me a date was on my records but she wouldn't tell me when, apparently my CA125 is raised so I am hoping it will be soon. Hope you get your date soon, the waiting is so awful.

Waiting is awful. Don't be scared cause of the CA125. Endo plus inflammation can raise that number. Mine was raised before my surgery in 2001 but no cancer

My sympathies. I know exactly what you're feeling as I'm doing the same myself. I waited for two weeks on an expected phone call with surgery date, and eventually got a date for my pre-op appointment. That was last Wednesday, so hopes were raised. During the appointment my Gyn actually came in and told me that my surgery would be next Thursday. However the theatre nurses that were doing the pre-op checks decided to check with the theatre only to find there is no anaesthetist available as my surgery would push them over the allotted hours that they are allowed to work in one day. Hopes dashed again. Now I'm waiting again every day for a phone call from the hospital to confirm they have found one that can fly in and do the surgery. If I was to see my Gyn in the street at the moment I'd like to wring his neck, except no doubt that would just delay things again.

I've learned to have real respect for people who handle scheduling in hospitals! It's not just a matter of the surgeon's time. There has to be a sufficiently long chunk of OR time free. There has to be an anesthesiologist available. There has to be a bed available for the patient to recover in afterwards. It's quite the juggling act.

I can respect the schedulers, just currently annoyed at the situation. My hospital closes down it's operating theatre to non-emergency surgery in early Dec until mid-January so the longer this scheduling takes the less likely I'll get in before it closes for the holidays.

When you have a potential cancer diagnosis hanging over you head, a longer wait is not something anyone wants to be dealing with. I'm not someone who can bury my head in the sand and just forget about why the surgery is happening.

If you have a potential cancer diagnosis, then your hospital ought to be working extra hard to get you in. You mentioned that they're trying to find an anesthesiologist to fly in? That sounds to me like they're taking your case seriously. Here's hoping you get in!
