??? for the post-op'ers re:weight gain/loss

Okay, so 3 years ago I lost 80 pounds... in the last year & a half (due to pain issues) I have gained over 40 pounds back. I'm just wondering if it will be a struggle to lose weight after recovery.

What was your experience?

Thanks in advance!

??? for the post-op'ers re:weight gain/loss

I'm a big fan of Weight Watchers and have been following that program off and on almost my whole life. Most recently I joined again this past July and have lost 15 pounds. I could have lost much more by now if I adhered completely to the program, but I'm having motivation issues so it's been rough going. When I do follow it properly, it's no more difficult to get the weight off than it was any other time pre-hysterectomy. I'm not a big exerciser either.

Keep track of what you're eating during your recovery and you should be fine. As a matter of fact, don't be surprised if you have no appetite for a while after your surgery.

??? for the post-op'ers re:weight gain/loss

Hi

I am 6 weeks post op, my weight was not a problem at first, just couldn.t eat after my operation so lost a few pounds But, after 6 weeks of little exercise I am struggling, I am about 50 pounds over weight to start with and having to try really hard. Have gained 5 pounds since my hospital stay and with Christmas round the corner it could get worse. Going to join a slimming class in the new year as have a wonderful trip to disney in Florida to look forward to next summer

Take Care, it is really worth it.

Heather - 40

TVH - 23-10-07 - due to heavy bleeding/clotting and prolapse uterus and bladder cystocele.

I was a bit worried about that too. I had dieted and exercised several years back and managed to lose 75 pounds. I did not want any of it back.

I lost a few pounds at first from a lack of appetite. Now at 5 years post-op I'm happy to say that I'm about the same as before my tah/bso. I started walking the day after my surgery ( the nurse got me up & sent me to the showers ). I walked the hospital halls and then inside at home. As I healed, I added distance and ventured outside. I was released to resume normal activities at 6 weeks post-op.

What works for me is staying active and watching what I eat. I don't go hungry, but I try to eat healthy.

Jean & Heather, thanks for responding! I'm definately hopeful that I'll be able to get back on track after my recovery.

Kristi, I lost my 80# on WW, too! I was actually a leader until the pain got too bad.
