A positive perspective

Dear Sisters,
Yesterday a friend of mine told me something her dr told her when she was facing her hysterctomy. He told her to think about how many days you feel good in comparison to how many days you feel bad. When the bad days out number the good days you know you are ready to do it.
Considering that I hurt all the time I guess I am ready. It helped me to settle it more in my mind. I still am struggling with nerves and not sleeping and all that. I wish I could just rest in it, but I guess that comes with the territory of the unknown.
I go in on Monday and am working away to get ready-house and myself and family.
I hope the little thought will help some who are struggling too.

Blessings, Rita

A positive perspective

Your doc is absolutely right! What a terrific way to put things into perspective! I am almost 5 weeks post-op now and don't regret a thing! For me, the waiting was the hardest part. Here's best wishes to all "princesses in waiting" - may your surgeries go smoothly and your recoveries be speedy and uneventful!

Hugs,
Susan

A positive perspective

Hi Rita!

Thanks for sharing your tale of perspective...I really like it. Often the most meaningful advice can be so simply put.

I also think about perspective when I listen to pre-op ladies who are scared of having to endure post-op pain, and dreading restrictions, inconveniences, and weeks of being "down for the count" while their body heals. When I was recovering from my surgery, I prorated those days and weeks of "not feeling good" with the potential for decades and decades of feeling great --possibly better than ever! With ultimately (hopefully!) a positive outcome, the weeks and sometimes months of "suffering" seem to pale.

Best wishes to you for a successful surgery and recovery! I have a good feeling about it!
