Finally a date was set....

Hi Everyone!!!

I have had a horrible experience but all is on track now... first... after being told that I needed a TAH I of course was a bit freaked out, but as I came to terms with it.. my doc wanted me to have a Mamogram... there were micro-calcifications that needed to be biopsyed ... oh that is just great... what now?? Those are the 2 questions that entered my mind... then... they called for the pre-op blood workup and xrays.. EKG and so on... fine.. no problem, till the PA comes into the room to tell me that I have a abnormal EKG. She wants me to be seen by my primary doc for a final sign off.. again, now my surgery was scheduled for the 30th of Nov and it is now the 27th... the Friday before the surgery... my primary doc says he does not like it and sends me to a cardiologist where she agrees that it is abnormal and wants a series of 3 tests done.. a ECHO (ultrasound of my heart) a ultrasound of my legs and a Nuclear Stress Test where they put the radioactive stuff in my blood to test my heart under stress.. forget about worrying about the TAH now... now I have to worry about having heart disease... I cried for 3 days... finally got the word today that my heart is normal and I am a green light for surgery which is now scheduled for the 9th of December. What a journey I had this past week getting it all together.

I am glad that I am okay, but when I talked to the secretary at the OB office, she said that it was not uncommon that the equipment at the pre op place had a false reading. I wish I would have known this, I would have insisted my primary care doc do another test in his office before carting me off to the cardiologist.

Here's hoping that all the rest of this experience goes a lot smoother. I appreciate the place to vent.

Best Regards to everyone!!!

Re: Finally a date was set....

Big big hugs
It sounds like you've had quite a bit extra to deal with - I'd have been really nervous and stressed too! But, thank heavens all turned out well
I hope that everything goes smoothly from now on, with no extra problems.

Now, I think that after all that - you need an extra special treat this weekend! Do something that you really enjoy, even if it's as simple as a nice long relaxing soak in the tub

Re: Finally a date was set....

Hi there. I went through something similar. My surgery was originally scheduled for July and there was a huge mix-up at the hospital so it had to be rescheduled. I was very upset.

Then, my doc wanted me to get testing by my Cardiologist before the August surgery and see another doc as well. I didn't understand why they hadn't asked for this before the original surgery date. It was very frustrating!

But, in the end, it's good to know that your heart is OK and don't have to worry about that on top of everything else.

Best wishes to you on your surgery and recovery! Keep us posted.
