LSH: Surgery was cancelled today :(

Hi ladies, well my surgery was cancelled today because my doctor had a family emergency so now it might be a couple of weeks. I had myself mentally prepared for my hysterectomy and now the stress is even worse knowing I'm going to have to wait. Has anyone had this happen to them right before your surgery? I feel so bad for my doctor and they didn't say what happened but I heard it was bad. There is no other doctor in her practice that can do the surgery so it's a matter of waiting. I was OK before but now I am nervous again and wonder if I made the right decision because the original surgery was to remove a large complex cyst with my left ovary but I made the decision to do a total hysterectomy because of my precancerous conditions. Thank you. I'm hoping to get rescheduled next week which they're talking about November 18. Let's hope anyway.

I can totally relate. My surgery was scheduled for tomorrow the 5th however insurance just denied it last week. So now my surgery is put on hold as well. It can be so frustrating causing anxiety and stress and all that stuff. But i'm hopeful that I can still have the surgery done before the end of the year. Good luck to you!

I'm sorry to hear that. But this is a situation that is completely out of your hands. It must be tough to be mentally and physically prepared to go into surgery and then have it cancelled. Try to do nice things for yourself. Distract yourself over the next couple of weeks with things you enjoy. Lean on family, friends, and your fellow hystersisters for support. Keep your head up. You've got this!

Thank you. It is frustrating but I know my doctor will take care of me soon. I just feel like I'm never going to feel better plus I've lost a lot of weight in the past year. Not that I'm complaining too much but its starting to worry me. I know it has to get better.

I am so sorry. I almost went through the same insurance issue as well but the hospital had a charity program that is going to help pay the balance. I really hope you get your surgery sooner. I have been sick about this whole thing because I just made a decision to get a hysterectomy since I've had two cancer scares in less than two years. I'm so glad I found this site because you all are wonderful and have been a great support system. I will be praying for you that everything works out for you sooner. Sending big hugs your way

Thanks so much for the hugs! Waiting is the worst part about all of this!! I hope your doctor and their family is ok. What an emotional roller coaster this must be for you. Hopefully you can get some rest tonight. Hugs to you too!
