Kidney Problems - difficult to urinate

I'm awaiting a LAVH for fibroids and adhesions, ONLY been waiting 6 months, ha ha. ( Good on yer NHS!) I've been on Zoladex + Tibolone as add back therapy, since June to shrink the 'broids. In the past 4 weeks I've had two attacks of kidney pain ( very debilitating, still experiencing the second !!) I've ended up in A&E twice and am taking enough pain killers to put my entire village to sleep !! Also on strong antibiotics which don't seem to be doing much.

Any ideas what may be causing this? I'm finding it increasingly difficult to urinate, Niagra Falls of old replaced by leaky faucet !! Could the fibroids be growing again and causing pressure symptoms. My GP just scratches her head and says I'm a mystery !! We've become good friends because I see her so often !!

Are you able to empty your bladder OK? My fibroid was causing urinary retention, and I had a catheter for a month before my surgery. I did not have any pain, tho.

If your gp isn't able to figure things out, and you are in that much pain, I strongly suggest you try to see a specialist, or at least another dr!!!!!!!! This is not a healthy condition to be in.

Please, don't wait while your gp scratches her head--- find another dr who will help you find out what is wrong.

good luck!

Thanks

Yep, I am passing urine very slowly. Some times hardly at all. I'm somewhat apprehensive to say the least !!

In the UK we can only see a specialist by GP referal. She will have to decide it needs to be passed on. I can always ask to see another GP in the practice!

Kidney Problems, Difficult to Urinate

Hi, Sue,

I'm having similar problems, in that, especially around my period, I can hardly urinate at all. It is better by the 2nd or 3rd day, then, it seems alright for a couple of weeks, until I ovulate, then, it's difficult again, and then slackens a bit, until I approach my period again. I have an enterocele, which is pressing down, apparently, on my urethra; I'm sure the fibroids aren't helping either, since the more congested my pelvic area is, depending on where I am in my cycle, the more I feel urinary urgency, even though I often have difficulty emptying my bladder completely. I also have pain in my back, around the mid-back to low back region, when I'm straining to urinate. I have a doctor's appointment on the 27th, and I'm going to see what, if anything, he has to say about the problem (it's a second opinion examination regarding my surgery).

I would *definitely* try to get a referral to a specialist or see if there's anything they can do. My own biggest fear in my situation is that I won't be able to void completely and that I'll end up getting a bladder infection, which is what I'm trying to avoid.

I don't know if this helps; but I hope so.

Sincerely,

Nana
