Because you have endo, I would suggest seeking the opinion of an
endometriosis specialist. They tend to know the lastest treatment options and are skilled at removing endo from the body. We do have many
Endometriosis Resources you can read through to learn all you can about endo before making your decision. One thing you do need to know is that neither a BSO or hyst cure endo.
One of the thoughts that crosses my mind is that endo occurs when the endometrial cells make their way outside the uterus. Thus, if you retain your uterus, then there will still be endometrial cells that could become endo.
Also, HRT could be tricky, if you are allowed to use it! Estrogen can feed any remaining endo, but we need estrogen for other health issues such as our heart, bones, skin, eyes, etc. When one has endo, estrogen is often balanced with progesterone. If you retain your uterus without the ovaries, you will want to be sure you and your doctor are clear on HRT as unopposed estrogen could increase your risk for uterine cancer. So you will want to know all the ins and outs.
Have you had a second opinion regarding what might be best in your situation? A second medical opinion may confirm what your current doctor is suggesting or offer additional treatment options.
I wish you the best as you and your medical team decide what is best for you and your situation! Know your symptoms, do your research, and keep us posted!
