A good Tuesday morning to you all.........
I posted this in our sisters 'chat' area but want to post here, as well.........
Well, it's a new (hot humid dry as usual) day in Minneapolis and its environs. I'm off to work a couple of hours at my college. I am hoping to get a bunch more done like yesterday morning. I haven't walked yet. Last nite I did end up w/9 laps...............that's 9,000 steps...... I did it in sets of 3. We'll see today. It's not as cloudy and the dewpoint is 70, so it's like being down w/my FL sisters.
We will see how many doors I push/pull at my school today. I survived yesterday but when driving at 10 p.m. and going around curves my abdominal area could feel it. Knotty is how I describe it. I wonder if those are stitches or cramps or ???? I hate it. I feel like stuff is 'bulging' in there. It makes me nervous...probably a sign to slow it down.
At night I move around like nuts in bed trying to get comfortable.............and I want to stretch out on a rack if I could but don't want to pop anything inside. I do little stretches. I'd like to contort like a cat..........well, some day.
Today I'm actually wearing a regular pair of jeans. I am amazed. My swelly belly is going down a bit. It's very nice to 'feel'...........
Just wanted to wish you all a good Tuesday as you continue to heal. Off I go and I'll check back later. It was so odd to wake up and not find a single hystersisters email in the box! Means we are all moving on, definitely.
E.

Sunny, I too have my doubts about returning to work at 6 weeks. If I do go back in 6 weeks, I imagine it will be short days (e.g. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with gradually building on that). I could work from home, but the idea of the long drive, the fatigue of having to be nice to all those people, etc. is overwhelming.
I can relate to those of you who say you don't realize you're overdoing until hours later when you're back in bed with pain and huge fatigue. That happened to me yesterday. I woke up pain free...went for a 15-minute walk, did some dusting, baked a banana bread, then collapsed. I had really expected this to be much more of a holiday, with plenty of time to get caught up on small jobs around the house such as painting lawn furniture! Was I ever kidding myself! After my sick leave I'm gonna need a vacation

Feeling great!
Hi All!
Things are getting so much better! I agree with you all when you say you do not realize you have done too much until too late But I am making sure I DO take it easy. I cannot believe it has been almost 4 weeks. Those first 2 weeks just dragged on...me wanting to do so much and only being able to do so little.
The antibiotic is helping a great deal for the vag cuff infection. The pain I was feeling is relieved and the discharge is scant. FINALLY! My parents left yesterday so we have our home back to ourselves again . My husband made us a big margarita to celebrate. He is so good while they are here, better than I am .
As far as bowels go... I do still have a swelly belly but I do notice it going down. I am back into my clothes that were stretchy or bigger to begin with. I don't have any problems having a BM...but I am taking alot of fiber to make sure I do not get constipated again . Gas doesn't seem to be a problem anymore...I stay away from gassy foods.
The pain is really decreasing everyday. I take ibruprofen occassionally when I feel back pain mostly. Or just generalized all over soreness at the days end.
I finally slept almost through the night last night I have been dealing with the insomnia I think it will get better with my house back to normal and not having to take care of my mother when I feel she should have been taking care of me
I am walking every am and pm and going to the gym to walk on the treadmill a couple times weekly. I did not do it last week because of the fever and the infection. Besides it was too hot!
I too felt like would get alot of odds and ends done around the house but I did not! I do not know where the time went.
Have a great day sisters!

I've been telling my friends that the road to recovery is not a smooth one. It's full of bumps and those are SPEED BUMPS telling me to slow down. Have a great day everyone.

Captain Crunch:
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I think my cramping was from something I ate too because my daughter got sick too.
I was going to go into work in the afternoon today (I work in an office) but there are storms everywhere, so I think I will just stay home.

Good Morning Ladies -
4 weeks today. I am finding that I am on my feet more but swelling more because of it. My legs have finally stopped hurting, probably because I am not on my back as much, so the swelling is a trade off. Either way, I am not ready to go back to work.
My husband took off yesterday for our anniversary and we went out for most of the day. Didn't do a lot - a little shopping, dinner, and a movie (No Reservations - was really cute). But I swelled so much last night that I feel more soreness in the lower abdominal area today.
I have my 2nd post-op check tomorrow and I am hoping that will be given the OK to drive. Gratefully, two of my sons drive and I can ask for rides from them now and again but I miss the freedom.
Have a great day.

Good day sisters. Does anyone else dread going back to work?! Ugh... the thought makes me nauseated! I was supposed to have a post-op with surgeon on 8/17 and go back to work on 8/20 but his office just called and rescheduled my appt to 8/21. He won't release me until he's seen me again. My office will be SO ticked off. This time away from work has given me time to reflect about it all and I just don't think I'm very happy there anymore. That's what is making it hard to think about going back. Maybe it's time for a change?
Have a great Tuesday all!!

Funny, how part of me, just wants to keep relaxing like i have been... hehe... and i dont want to get back into having to do housework, and going back to teach in the fall, etc... lol.
lazy? hah
I feel the same way, I feel pretty good but I can't imagine having to go back to work! I have been doing light housework but not vacuming yet. I have been able to work alittle around the house and then sit on the recliner and watch tv or read, it has been so nice. I'm going to miss being able to relax. It's also going to be hard getting back into church activities again, it was nice to have a break but with fall coming there are activities and things that I need to get back into planning. It used to be fun for me to plan these activities, I hope I get my energy back and want to do these things.

Refliefisdue:
My husband and I had our anniversary yesterday too! And my surgery was on July 13th.
We saw No Reservations last week and I thought it was a cute movie.
Maybe we can keep up with each other on how our recovery is doing.
I had an abd. hyster with cervix removed, kept my ovaries.
I was going to go into work for a few hours today (office) but there are storms everywhere and standing water so I decided to stay home.

The nice thing about this leisurely recovery period is that it's great practice for retirement! I'm 56 and retirement is still several years away, but it's reassuring to know that I will be able to handle being away from the office just fine.
I'm going out for an early dinner with 2 friends this evening. It will be grrrrreat.
