Upcoming hysterectomy 2/14: Nervous (heavy bleeding, possible endo)

I am not going to lie I am Nervous! My surgery is Valentine's Day. Having a total laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy and cystoscopy. She does not plan on taking my ovaries unless during surgery something changes her mind. She gave me multiple options and I said take it all out. Since I was 11 or 12 when I 1st started I have had terrible cramps (NOTHING subsides them now). They make me nauseous, horrible lower back pain, bad clotting, fatigue, never know when my cycle will be, it's either 3 or 5 days long, and there have been 2 times I have had a cycle in 2 weeks. It just seems like these last 6 month have just gotten worse. She does have a feeling I may have endometriosis due to when she did my pap I was in horrid pain and it was so hard to sit still. I cried for 10 minutes after and when I got to my car. I have never had pain during a pap. I have had IBS since I was 14 and periods make my pain worse I go through tons of tampons each month. Sorry for rambling. I just need to vent lol.

Hi Candi4528 -

I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this. All of your feelings, fears, emotions and nerves are completely normal. This is one tough surgery to face and digest. And it is okay to vent - it does really help.

I have never had endo, but have learned from this site that a hysterectomy does not cure endo. You need an expert to remove the disease. Here are articles that may provide information:

Having a hysterectomy can be such an overwhelming experience. Just know that you are not alone in any of this. We are here for you, and understand how you feel.

Re: Nervous (heavy bleeding, possible endo)

My situation sounds very similar to yours. I was given a couple options but really want the pain to stop. My Dr seemed a little surprised I didn’t want to try other options but he also told me that those other options won’t take care of the pain. That led me to my decision to have the hysterectomy. I’m scheduled for the 16th. And nervous and scared. Praying Ian making the right decision. When I was in for my pre-op and he did a biopsy it was the worst most excruciating pain. thinking of you!

Re: Nervous (heavy bleeding, possible endo)

I have TAH on the 15th so I know what you mean about being nervous. It is major surgery and that is scary. Let's both hope that the improved life after surgery makes it all worthwhile. Sending you warm thoughts!
