I know my doc can answer these for me, but right now I am on line & would like to know. I go for my blood work this weekend, 5-7 days before the big day. I am now getting a little concerned to what is expected. Thanks for all your help and support.
Hi. It is my understanding that no matter what type of hyst is performed, swelly belly is usually an issue. I think I've read posts from women who have it as far as their 1 year hysterversary. The nail polish reason is most likely for checking the oxygen level, but I was also told by my doctor for a previous surgery that if the nail polish is chipped at all and gets into the incision site it could cause major infections. Normal stay is anywhere from 2-3 days.

I am wondering why a D&C would be performed? If your doctor wants diagnosis from cells in your uterus, why not just send the uterus to get the pathology results? That seems silly to put your body through the trauma of a D&C when the hyst is being performed anyway. Perhaps your doc is thinking of not performing the hyst if the D&C shows no abnormalities? All I know is that having a D&C when you're already going to lose the uterus seems like overkill to me. Too much stress on your body and higher surgical cost too. I'd definitely be grilling my doc on why this is the plan.

Take care!! Sorry if I answered questions that were answered before.

HUGS!!

Just a few questions

I can tell you what I know about a frozen section from my own experience. When your surgeon does the D&C he or she will take an endometrial bx it will be sent to the lab for the pathologist to freeze the tissue to see if the cells have ca and if the margins are clear. If it is ca the pathologist will let the surgeon know in about 30mins. Your surgeon will start you TAH while waiting on the report when an answer is sent to the OR the surgeon will know it they need to do more extensive surgery like maybe pelvic lymp nodes. I will be having the same procedure so hang in there.

Just a few questions

I had a double uterine biopsy 5 days prior to my hyst because the doctor wanted those results before going in .. however, all removed contents were also sent immediately to Pathology.
