Another question from Whats the Normal size of a Uterus

This question is another question that refers from my last thread.
"What’s the Normal size of a Uterus” I was wondering what size a Uterus was. With the replies I got I'm a bit confused.

If your Uterus is the size of a pear and I have a fibroid (along with many more, located in/all over my Uterus) that is 3 cm. Isn’t this "TEENY TINY?" Why would this cause so much pain and discomfort? This doesn’t make your uterus abnormal in size if its so small, does it?

Thanks for all your replies and help!
I'm learning so much!

Another question from Whats the Normal size of a Uterus

I have problems with fibroid and have had them for the past ten years. My doctor told me that the average uterus measures from 8-10 cm. I have a fibroid that measures 5 cm which has caused my uterus to stretch to a measurement of 15 cm. When I had my baby, 9 years ago, one of my fibroids had gotten as large as a grapefruit! I was so huge and there was such a risk for my baby.

An average buisness card measures 9 cm. So, if you split that into three, then you would get a close measurement of the size of your fibroid. The pain you are experiencing could come from the location of the tumor and if it has grown attached to any other organs or tissues.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my uterus is also tilted, which also adds to my discomfort. Having TAH on 6/28/04. Lady in waiting...for relief.

Hope this helps.

Another question from Whats the Normal size of a Uterus

It was explained to me that sometimes the many smaller fibroids can cause more problems like bleeding, than the larger ones. I had two large fibroids....one was 9 cm and one was 7 cm....also one small fibroid that was discovered during surgery! Mine did not bleed nor cause discomfort during sex . My difficulty was that one was resting on my bladder causing numerous trips to the bathroom and the other was pushing on my spine causing low back problems. I am told the average uterus weighs approx 60 grams....my fibroids were just over 500 grams! You mentioned that you have several small fibroids. It is also possible that you also have undetected fibroids that do not appear on the ultrasound. These may all contribute to enlarging the uterus. Hope this helps.
BTW, I have never felt better since having my triplet fibroids banished!
