How does it know?

Well, my wacky uterus is putting up a fight that's for sure. I had to go to the hospital today and just got back. The bleeding is worse than ever and now my red blood count is down. The doctor says, "eat chicken livers" to raise the count. "HUH?" I said. "With all the technology we have these days....we can clone a baby....and you're gonna tell me to EAT CHICKEN LIVERS!!!!!" "Give me a pill dear doctor, just give me a pill." So he did. He prescribed super potent iron pills which I'm sure will work just fine. I'm sure they will also work just fine at increasing the constipation.

I have two weeks to get my count up otherwise my surgery will get postponed. But the doc seems to think I'll be fine as long as the bleeding stops in the next couple of days.

Shoot-out at the restaurant at the end of the universe....

Funny how your uterus plays tricks on you.... My last period was exemplary, I sort of waited for the bleeding to start again, and, HELLO, nothing happened! Made me for a few seconds wonder if I really needed the operation, perhaps I should wait and see?

Anyhow, keeping up the good work, my period started yesterday, only about 3-4 days "too early", and true to form, I guess Auntie will be visiting right up to the operation next Monday. And I who had hoped for a few unencumbered days (nights) with my boyfriend.....

Oh, well, have to show some consideration for the poor thing, putting up a last big fight!

How does it know?

My last period before my TVH on August 16 was the worst I've ever had. I imagined grabbing the Dr. by the shirt and yelling "get it out". I had two tampax and two pads on and I was wondering at what point one should visit the emergency room. I stayed home for two days taking vicodin. I imagine it was getting worse because the adenomyosis I had was getting worse. Maybe that in combination with the stress I was putting myself through worrying about the operation. So, good riddance is what I say. I feel really good, a little tired, but doing what I was told to do, and that's "rest". I would have had my period last week, and gosh, it was great to not have it. I can't tell you how good it feels to know I'll never go through that again. Hold on to that thought, exercise, eat right and exercise some more. It really does get your mind off being scared.

How does it know?

My surgery is on Tuesday and today I started. Why couldn't my body let me go in peace. It was like it wanted to remind me exactly why I want this madness to end. On the weekends I work with adults who have mental and physical disabilities. I was unable to take anything stronger than Tylenol and I was miserable. Felt like my insides were coming out. Now I am at home and just took some Midol (thank goodness for the last time). Had my pre-op on Friday and think I am as prepared as I will ever be. Just have to wait and see what happens now. I feel very positive now, but on Tuesday morning I will be a nervous wreck!! Take care ladies.

How does it know?

After 33 years of increasingly painful, heavy periods coupled with monster PMS, my (I hope final) period just ended with a wimper. It was "normal", barely six days long. Hardly a clot. Hardly a cramp.

I liken it to when you've made up your mind you're leaving that awful boyfriend -- the relationship that went completely south. You've packed your bags, and then he starts being nice to you, just as you're going out the door.

Oh, well, I haven't forgotten. Almost every month for the last 5 years I've asked my dh to order me a "home hysterectomy kit". Aunt Flo can't fool me.....

9/20 is my independence day!
