Cenestin and Femring

I have been on FemRing for 6 months. My estradiol will not go up - it's only 31. My doctor says 50 is the minimum I need to get to, and 100 is where I should be at my age (39). I am on .1 of the Femring, so we cannot go any higher. She added Cenestin. I was on V-Dot for over a year, and all of a sudden developed an allergy to the adhesive. We tried all other patches, and I am allergic.

Cenestin seems to be causing headaches and nausea - just like when I took Premarin and Estratest in addition to the patch, for the low estradiol levels. I have low testosterone and progesterone also.

Does anyone have experience with Cenestin and Femring? I have the following symptoms with my low hormone levels: weight gain, hair loss, sleep problems, hot flashes, fatigue.

Thanks!

Cenestin and Femring

Hi Kristine

I don't know that you'll find anyone with the exact hormone combination as you. Hopefully someone will come along and have some experience to share. You can do a search of this forum with "Cenestin" as your search term to find previous discussions about it, and do the same for "Femring".

How long have you been on the combination? Maybe you are one who doesn't do well on oral estrogens, or maybe an oral one that is bio-identical would be a better choice. Have you considered using a compounded estrogen cream? Here's a link to the Hormone Article List where you can find four articles about estrogen choices.

It sounds like your doctor is willing to work with you on this. I hope together you can figure out the right combination so you feel better soon!
