Ovaries to keep or not???

I am having a laparoscopic vaginal vault prolapse repair in 4 days. I am 54 years old and take cenestin. I asked the doctor to remove the ovaries thinking that they are of no use anymore. Is this right? Am I doing the right thing? The doctor agreed to do this but now I wonder why he didnt bring it up himself. Please any information will be appreciated.

Also, a 1997 test showed that even with estrogen, oophorectomy has been shown to be a risk factor for heart disease. You might want to read this abstract - link. You might want to have another discussion with your doctor about your heart disease risks.
