Re: Best Wishes to our May 24 Princesses

As you prepare for your surgery, I wanted to send you and best wishes for your surgery and recovery.

I will be joining you as your Hostess on the Recovery Thread for all those having surgery between May 24th-31st. This will be your place to be encouraged, to find support, and to meet others who are on this journey with you. Look for it at the top of the Post-Op Forum after your surgery.

As you are preparing your “special place” for recovery, here are a few items that many have found helpful.

-- Gas X
-- Stool softener (your doctor may suggest a specific one)
-- Wipes (gentle, non-alcoholic – more soothing than tissue)
-- Heating pad (helps to ease the pain)
-- Pillow for tummy support (especially if you cough, sneeze, or laugh)
-- Note pad & Pen (to help you keep track of your meds)

It is normal to have questions and be nervous. I will be by your side each step of the way. Try to sit back and relax and have a little “you” time. (bubble bath, chatting with friends, go out for coffee , take in a movie) Make a list of those last minute things you want to get done and won’t be able to do after surgery: last minute cleaning, grocery shopping, making meals and freezing them, having a special time with you family and loved ones.

Here are a couple of links you may find helpful:
Remember this all important rule -- pamper the princess.

I will see you on the other side.

One of my best post-op moments was my first meal. I eased the anxiety before surgery by thinking about ordering from the hospital menu. I had an omelet and I instantly felt better.

Hi! I’m Michele. Thanks for all the suggestions! They’ve helped me feel as prepared as possible! I’m in the middle of the pre-op liquid diet. Can’t wait for yummy food at some point tomorrow! Now, just to make it through the IV (seriously needle phobic!)

Michele. I know the liquid diet is not on your top 10 list. Hang in there dear ... it will be over soon and you'll be on your road to recovery. Remember you are not alone ... we'll be waiting for you on the other side.
