Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 7/7: Getting extremely nervous

I had a really hard time with stress and all of the "what ifs" while waiting for my surgery. I even got a prescription from my Dr to deal with anxiety! I realized that a lot of the horror stories also had to do with multiple reasons for surgery, people with other medical issues, obesity, etc. Another was those that did not follow the post op restrictions. I didn't post much on my groups thread because I felt guilty saying I feel great when others were having problems.
I was open with the drs and nurses about being afraid and they were wonderful. I'm not going to lie and say it wasn't painful when I woke up after surgery, but they got me meds and kept me comfortable. The first few days may not be a cake walk, but you will get through it. You will find wonderful post op advice here in the articles and by doing searches. Its been over 2 months now for me. Life is GOOD!

I remember the anaesthetist saying he would give me something to calm me, and as soon as my canula was in he did that...didn't make me sleepy or silly, just calm. I remember staring up at the big light in theatre which would usually scare me, but didn't. Gas pains are mostly helped with a heat pack and over the counter "DeGas" - slowly getting better but can't wait to be back to normal! ️Xx
