Hysterectomy vs. Ablation

Hello,

I am a 34 year old female who just feels done. SO done with painful endometriosis, bowel issues related to menstruation and PMDD. My ob/gyn and I have tried the continuous bcp's, and it isn't helping. I know that if I do an ablation for the bleeding-3-4 overnight pads a day-bleeding for 7 days-passing clots all days-that I will still need the bcp's. My tubes were tied at 32.

I am very worried about what a hysterectomy including ovary removal will do to my sex life and my aging process.

I am also very active, and I enjoy yoga 4-5 times a week and running 3 times a week-I am honestly down about the time that I won't be able to work out. Not that I enjoy taking a week off from exercise for my period every month.

At any rate-I am here looking around. I go to the OB tomorrow to discuss my options, and I am trying to be as informed as possible.

Hysterectomy vs. Ablation

Hi There!
I had the novasure procedure done in February of 2005. My previous Dr. wanted to do a hysterectomy. I had heavy bleeding, cramps that would keep me laid up for days and to top it off my periods were long and I felt like I could of killed someone and went out to eat a pizza aterwards (if you get my drift!) I was a hormonal mess. Went to a new gyno and she said I was the perfect candidate for EA. Had the procedure done had maybe a day or two of downtime. Usd a pantyliner for discharge for about two weeks after. After that for the next four months I had a period that I called a dot! Only needed a pantyliner. And since then I have NEVER had a period AGAIN WOOHOO! Feel great! I'd recommend this procedure to anyone who is a candidate and who is trying to decide which path to take.

Failed ablation

I have suffered in one way or another the entire time I have had my period. Finally decide to take charge and have an ablation last summer. It didn't work. If anything, my period was worse than ever. I am having a TVH on 3-31 and can't wait. I hope that you have better results than I had. For some I hear it works great!
