Questions about ultrasound with saline

I saw the gyn again today. After some discussion about whether a hyst is the only choice she decided to do another ultrasound (she didn't perform the first one). She would like to get a look herself and I'm also wondering how far into the wall of my uterus the fibroids go. If they don't go too far in then I think I 'll try doing a d&c with ablation and see if that helps my problems.

This time, it's going to be the kind that they put saline into my uterus before scanning. The regular internal one made me pretty uncomfortable and I cramped for a couple of days from it. The endometrial biopsy left me cramping for a few days and spotting too. It was also somewhat painful while she was doing it. So is this likely to hurt?

I have found out my insurance doesn't automatically cover hospitalization without all kinds of preauth stuff so we are still working on that. I think there is a high likelyhood that they will require proof that something less expensive than a hyst has been tried or is not medically a good choice so I probably need to have this ultrasound done anyway.

We've already wiped out hormone therapy since I took progesterone for 5 days and spent a week in bed from it. It did make this period a little better. Not quite as much bleeding and much smaller clots.

Re: Questions about ultrasound with saline

Hi Whirlygig,
Me too had this type of ultrasound done a year back,it gives a better view and more indepth info regarding the situation inside.
It was a little discomfort and pain when they sent the saline in i felt it a bit painful and made me dizzy for an hour or so but with a day s rest i felt better.
And yes i had fibroids and adenomyosis too.....

thought of ablation as my doc felt D&c might not be of good help. Finally going ahead with hyster on dec 5th.

All the very best may you get a suitable solution soon....
