Concerns

Hello Everyone,

My name is Linda and I just signed up at the Hystersister.com website today. This is definately an answer to prayer. Much of what I have been going through has been addressed in the any posts I have read...from severe anxiety to post-op questions and concerns.

I am 32 and have been diagnosed with endometriosis adenomyosis and polycystic ovarian disease. ..latest ultrasound revealed possible carcinoma. My physician scheduled me for a d&c and hysteroscopy (the second time I have had these procedures in two years) last Friday, but due to the fact that my physician suspended her fellowship at the insurance approved hospital (meaning she can no longer perform the surgery at the hospital my insurance approved) I am back to sqaure one with a new doctor, whom I am visiting for the first time on Friday...to discuss hysterectomy options. In the mean time, I have been bleeding non-stop with severe abdominal pain and blot clots for four weeks now, which has resulted in one trip to the ER so far. I have been taking slow FE and eating high protein...any other ideas on how to keep my blood count up while I am waiting? I am completely drained.

I am sorry that you will need to find a new doctor. I understand how hard it is to change once you have found one that you like and trust. If your doctor referred you to the new physician, that usually means that they know each other and have a working relationship. That should be good for you.

I am 35 and just came home from the hospital. I had a vag hyst for prolapsed uterus and cystocele repair. I have to tell you that I am only 4 days post op and feel great. I also had the constant bleeding and pain. And post op, I already feel better than I did before.

Hi and welcome.

I had a bout of dealing with anemia and my doctor said I should take vitamins daily. I tried them, only to find that the coating on them would give me heartburn or stomach distress. When I went back she asked if I was taking them as ordered and I said I tried, but had those two issues. She was emphatic and said pretty much "you have to take vitamins...I don't care if they're Flintstones, take them." She said to take two childrens vitamins at a time...and I did and they weren't irritating to my stomach. However, if you can get away with the regular "grown up" vitamins, by all means I'd go for that first. I also went on the computer and looked up iron rich foods. I would eat salmon a lot, spinach, and if you can muster it...liver (I happen to like it). I did this for a while and I did bring up my bloodcount to just a borderline anemic state and then I had my ablation and that has taken care of my severe bleeding and clotting and I have not had a problem with anemia since. I wasn't severly anemic, but had things kept going, I was headed there. This is what worked for me. It might not for you, and this is just my experience. Perhaps your doctor might give you some suggestions when you have your visit. Good luck to you. I hope things work out.

Oh I do sympathize with you..I lived so long with waivering at a blood level of 8-9. Ok, first of get Iron in you..Including Iron rich food and protiens..stay off carbs they bring you up then straight back down..Lots of water, water and more water..Many times I would take Vitamin D. Which is very hard to get, so I used and still use allergy Vitamin D..also helps with winter depression..Good luck with the docs..keep us posted..In the long run I have to say I am now so happy I did this..

When I was told to take Slow FE they had me double the normal dose because of my low blood count. That was a couple year ago, it helped get my count back up for lap surgery in two months.

Now taking a prescribed iron because anemic again. Feel like I should be setting off metal detectors, but I got thru the airport yesterday so it must not be that bad.

It is good to know that there are people out there who understand where you are and can help you through the process. The anxiety I have been feeling has been very strong, especially being a single parent.

You wrote your Dr. thought there might be a possible cancer~

Since you are having to find a new DR anyways, you REALLY need to get referred to an gyn/oncologist.
I can not stress this enough. These are the doc's you want when dealing with even a possible chance of cancer.
Call your Dr's office and ask for a refferal to one.
