TVH: Did you try ablation before deciding on hysterectomy?

Hi, i did have an ablation and it was great for about a year. Now I am worse than before. I was just trying to keep what God gave me. I am ready to stop the pain now! I am so over it. Here I am going into yet another surgery! I do wish I had just had the hysterectomy back then.

I did have a HTA (hydrotherapy ablation) back in November 2009 for painful and heavy periods that continued to get worse over time. It was successful for 2 months. My dr says it's takes a couple of months to know if the ablation is effective. I waited until March, my periods came back heavy and constant pain (even before AF arrived.) My dr said if ablation was unsuccessful than the hysterectomy was the next step. (I had done the depro shot, BC pills- made me feel like cloud of sadness over my head.) I had a hysterectomy consult in March 2010 and had my TVH on May 18, 2010. I am 6 weeks post op and I am so glad I got it done! I had Adenomyosis, which the only 100% medical cure is hysterectomy. Have you consulted your dr on options?

I had an ablation in August of 09 and it worked like a charm. Prior to that, hysterectomy wasn't even on the table as an option. Ten months later, though, I have a grade 2 to 3 prolapse, cystocele, and adenomyosis -- I'm not blaming the ablation for those things; they might have happened even without the ablation! But on its own, I thought the ablation was great. Ten months, no period. Life was good!!
