feeling like backing out...
Ha! I am not proud of this but I have trained my mom to not visit or call too often. I know that sounds horrible but she has this way of making me crazy within 3 or 4 minutes. (I love my mom... but I really do not like her very much... if that makes sense!)
I encouraged her visit (although I hinted that It would be best if I did not have visitors in the hospital) because I knew it was important for her peace of mind to know that I will be ok. But if I can get one of those little mirror spy glasses and see her coming maybe I can pretend I am sleeping when she gets there... (I am such a bad daughter!)
I am sure that they will not release you from the hospital if you are not in good enough condition to go. As far as having more intense surgery, I think they would have mentally prepared you for that ahead of time. My Doc told me I would be having the "big One" but perhaps he was looking at worst case scenario so that if can do the bikini cut it would be fine but if they have to do the big vertical cut - I am prepared.
I have a suggestion for you. If you live in the US you can get a wonderful little herb mixture from the Vitamin stores. It is called "Happy Camper" by Pep. I have used it for PMS and when things were really bad emotionally. It really helps and I did not have any side effects. Takes away the anxiety. It is a herb mix tho and you need to stop herbs before surgery.
Good luck Dolphin!

I will second the not wanting to be rushed out of the hospital.. the last 2 surgeries I had were done as outpatient and I wasn't even completely out of the anesthesia before they were pushing me out the door last time!! I think I have more of a fear of people not believing the pain I'm in. My dh keeps being told.. oh it's a breeze, she'll be fine in a few days and I hate to tell him.. don't think it's going to happen!!!

I know exactly what you mean... I love my mom too, but she drives me crazy.... she's so bad at following through with things... with keeping her word, it's hard to trust her. She didn't even show up to my wedding.
Anyhow, enough about that My dr gave me an rx for anxiety... I've used it once... last night as a mater of fact because I couldn't settle down and get to sleep.
I think that's the hardest thing... I just can't seem to get any REAL sleep.
Thanks for all of your comforting words... I actually just read most of it to my husband and he got a little giggle here and there too
I never thought I'd be going through something like this so young... and then I see others on this site that are even younger and have had to go through worse symptoms than I have had to suffer though...
I'm not sure why we have to go through these things, but I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason... we just may not understand the reasons.
Thanks again and good luck to you too!

I'm not sure how to get over that fear.... I'm struggling with it... and it seems I am getting more anxious about it. We (each of us) has to just have faith that our family/friends will understand and believe us when we say we can/can not do something or are in pain.
I think this site is helping me tremendously with the reassurance department... I wish you the best

The only reason I haven't ran screaming yet is because I have to keep telling myself that I will not have to deal with horribly painful periods anymore. The "other" me is dreading not being able to drive, pick up my dogs and snuggle them - or bend to lie next to them on the floor, be sure hubby/daughter hasn't left stove on, forgot dogs outside, do the banking etc... UGH!!!! Sorry, I know my paranoia isn't going to help, but I needed to get that out. I'm the one who does everything here and I hate to give that up and have to hand it over to two people that pretty much need constant hand holding, but I gotta cut the cord here (they are adults), because I need to do this for me. And my rational self also has to stop thinking, draw on my faith, and trust that all will be just fine. I just wish this night would go faster. Good luck to everyone out there waiting in anticipation. I'll say a prayer for us all.

Hi Oopie, Is your surgery tomorrow?
One of the things I was told would help was getting a massage the day before (deep tissue) - very relaxing.
Sounds like all of us "do it all" women folk are going through the same thing. Nice to hear that we are all agreeing and realizing that we must do what it takes to get better!
Amazing how many ladies I run into that have had this done. They all tell me they feel great now and they have no regrets.
Soon that will be us.
Good luck everyone!!

feeling like backing out...
Oh, I love massage more than anything, but my strategy was to run myself silly so that I would welcome the chance to lay back and rest for a change. I threw a bbq for the holiday weekend and for hubby's birthday, and, as is par for the course, I didn't stop all day. Someohow I still have energy, although with the smell of pizza lingering in the air right now, I feel I may lose my cool and chew a piece and spit it out just to taste it, lol!! Thanks for the suggestions and kind words, I appreciate everything. Right now, I'm off to the throne, the shower, and maybe I'll read until I exhaust myself into a sleep. I promise to post as soon as all is said and done and I'm able to sit behind my pc again. Good luck to all and have a good nght
PS- Fredy, my Mom lives across the street from me. She's 86, has had 10 kids, and she's still unstoppable. I love her, but she'll probably make me nuts too.

Girls I know exactly how you feel. I am a A-type personality. I am worried about people taking care of me instead of me taking care of them. However I am also thinking now they will see what I do daily. My mom and dad are both coming in for a week. (I will definitely need prayers and strength with both of them coming)
Fredy- WE have the same day scheduled for surgery!
Oopie- Good luck on your surgery. Relax tonight and just think by tomorrow night the hard part will be over.

Marty07,
Good luck with having both your parents over I was in Bremerton Mar 2006... it's really nice up there, my husband was stationed there while he was in the Navy, so it was nice to see the area... have a good evening and good luck too.
